I don't know, Gondek seems prone to emotional knee jerk reactions.

Might be the most condescending post in the history of this board...and I have been around for all of them.
Hope you feel better one day.

I'm wondering how this is effected by projected operating revenue for the Flames. I mean I ain't no fancy accountant. But asking them to start paying for cost over runs, and then the city moving the goalposts and adding cost over runs (Climate change, sidewalk stuff). When the team's operating expenses are low due to Covid and haven't been spectacular since its height in 2014 could have an effect on the Flames ownership mindset.

I don't know why this needs to be said so many times, but the city did not move the goal posts on cost overruns.
The Flames asked for CMLC to not be the project manager (flames moving the goal posts if you will), and the city said "sure, but in exchange, you are responsible for cost overruns above x". Flames and city agreed.
The flames agreed to responsibility for cost overruns.

My point is that these kinds of things are common. Getting development permits, building permits, occupancy, subdivisions - none of this is “set in stone” like some folks seem to think a contract implies.
As for the muppet comment, yeah, if you’re complaining about your taxes going up at the same time as wanting the city to foot the bill for what should be a 100% privately funded arena, you’re a muppet and you don’t understand the first thing about fiscal responsibility.
How many times will this ownership group threaten to leave before everyone just tunes them out? Leave or don’t, stop wasting everyone’s time. This deal was bad, it got worse, and it’ll continue to get worse. The city never should have agreed to it in the first place.
Please, this is an idle threat, and I was pissed with them back when they were all over Bill Smith, and I haven’t dropped a nickel in that building since and likely never will again.

Good grief. Ya hold the line at the deal that was inked.
Edwards should terminate the agreements and immediately sue the City.

This seems a premature statement given that you are likely not a lawyer and, like most everyone else, know nothing about specific terms of the deal.

Sue them for what? Asking to re-negotiate?
If anything, given that CSEC is now threatening to tear up the contract (if that happens), the City would sue CSEC.

Words and actions not matching up here. Looks like tough talk to squeeze more out of the public due to inflation on materials.
But the timing with Christmas and a covid ravaged team once again looks very poor on CSEC.
They do great things in the community behind the scenes, but public relations has really never been their forte, has it? Consistently tone deaf and the way they go about negotiating can sure leave a sour taste in the community for good reason. I think Calgary deserves better than the way they've gone about things in recent years.

I feel pretty bad about it. It's on the same level as Muppet and both should probably be banned from this forum because they are so terribly insulting and insensitive.
