Then perhaps you should actually read the damn report before also choosing to downplay Quennville's involvement?

Yeah, it is but have we read the full report or are we just shouting based on the headlines?

It's literally right there in the report body:
There are no headlines. Again these are all quotes from the actual report.

Congrats to Westhead and Strang for pushing and pushing this story which costs them access to GM's etc. And it will be interesting how Friedman, LeBrun et al follow up now.

Interesting that the "pos" Bowman told the truth, ultimately costing himself his job and legacy, while the "good man" Quenneville couldn't remember Aldrich's name ever coming up.
Quote:
Quenneville recalled others in the meeting stating that “an event
happened without saying what happened” and that “something may have
happened. ”When interviewed, Quenneville stated that he believed that the
issue being discussed involved a coach doing something improper and that thegroup was meeting to decide whether to “make it public.”Quenneville also
stated that he did not believe that John Doe’s name was referenced and, after multiple interviews, Quenneville was unclear whether Aldrich’s name was referenced.
Quenneville also said when interviewed that he did not recall anyone saying it was hard for the team to get where they were in the playoffs, but recalled thathis focus was on winning and this meeting was unexpected. He said that
there was no resolution of the situation at the meeting.
Otherwise, Quenneville recalled nothing else regarding the meeting or the
events more broadly.

$2mil. Thats it. Should have made a real statement and had them forfeit a couple of high end draft pics to ensure this doesn’t happen again.

It's unclear from the actual report to what extent Quenneville knew about the incident, as several people in the report claimed Aldrich tried to sleep with John Doe and threatened his career, but were not specifically aware of the extent of the sexual assault (even Gary, who took it to management, did not seem fully aware from what I can tell).

Thanks man. I’m just saying there are so many reasons for a person to deny it publicly. If my lawyer said I could be personally sued I’d probably do the same. There’s no reason to defend poor behaviour, but I’m not calling him a POS if there’s no track record or I don’t know the majority of the story. The coverup really sucks and the organization and people should be held accountable. Would people jump on captain Canada, Toews as he denied hearing anything about it?

I agree that Quenneville may have only been reacting to what Bowman told him (that Aldrich tried to climb into bed with the victim). But I don't buy that Quenneville didn't learn more details over the past 10 years and just found out about the allegations this summer. It just seems unlikely that the head of the coaching staff wouldn't have learned about it from someone.

I am sorry but Quenneville not knowing the extent, if that's true, is entirely his own doing. They didn't find out the extent because he did not want to upset team chemistry. That was the purpose of the meeting, to decide whether to report and investigate or not.
Quote:
In particular, according to the Director of Human Resources, Gary
said that during the meeting, Quenneville appeared angry and was concerned
about upsetting team chemistry.
|
Quote:
Bowman recalled that, after learning of the incident, Quenneville shook his
head and said that it was hard for the team to get to where they were, and they
could not deal with this issue now
|
Quote:
McDonough recalled that Quenneville
appeared to be agitated

Toews being a great leader for Team Canada has no bearing on what he did or failed to do around this incident for me

This is abhorrent. All involved should never be in hockey again. Despicable humans. The lot of them.

Quennville not knowing was his own fault.
He was made aware of wrong doings but brushed it under the carpet because he cared more about winning than the well being of his players.
This is why he needs to be made an example of. So that if this happens tomorrow in another organization and a person of authority catches wind of it, they actually investigate and dig deeper to find out what's going on, rather than brush it aside and hope it goes away on it's own.
