I wouldn't say "sucks", but he projects to being a bottom 6 winger overall. Has plenty of good attributes that make the NHL a real possibility, but if anyone expects a top 6 player, you need to adjust your expectations for what the kid could be. He is still a project, so at least a couple of seasons before you could potentially see him crack a lineup.

A Florida fan on hf said Emil Heineman is a Tkachuk-lite and the Flames won this deal. Personally, I would really like another Tkachuk without having to pay for a real one.

He's the type that can fit anywhere in the lineup and play any role. There's a strong push to his stride, which gives him added acceleration and top speed while skating in a straight line. He's always got his feet moving, always maintains a high battle-level, and never shies away from making personal sacrifices to improve the two-way health of his team. -EliteProspects 2020 NHL Draft Guide

Fair enough, Bennett wasn't either, if the Flames end up with a bottom 6 guy then an even better trade.
Stats wise, he sounds okay even though the total sucks based on some comparables.

Good luck Sam.
Hopefully we give Phillips a try now:
Lucic - Backlund - Phillips
Nordstrom - Ryan - Ritchie/Leivo

Craig Button says Heineman is a real quick powerful skater that attacks the net and took a big stride in his game last year. Closer to making the transition to pro hockey in North America. Attacks the dots, won't be denied in the hard areas, etc.

So, instead of getting Hyman from the Leafs, Flames got a Heineman from the Panthers! Hope he won't stink like a c###!

Key is the way Bennett is playing for the Flames, they would have trouble qualifying him even if he is not picked by Seattle
Bennett value will never be higher than now for the Flames due to the playoffs hype
At 3M or so next year, he may not even get picked up off waiver

I’ll always remember his goals that didn’t count.

This is a fantastic piece of business by Tre.
Holding out on value for Bennett bodes well for the value of Johnny/Monny this offseason.
Objective should be stockpile picks to give yourselves a chance to move up if need be in next year/the year after's draft. And if need be, godfather offer for Wright/Bedard.

Basically two 2nd rounder for Bennett.
I think the odds of one of them being as impactful or more impactful than Bennett are pretty good.

A much cheaper bottom 6 replacement because that’s all Bennett was

Do either of those players project as #1Cs?

I mean... at the end of the day, we still traded a fourth overall pick for a mid second-round pick and another mid-late second-round pick (depending on where Florida finishes).
That's probably 60% on Bennett, 35% on coaching and 5% on drafting.
