If you jump in early cause you're intoxicated with her looks and get hitched, well that's that.
People getting offended at the suggestion might want to put themselves in the shoes of a millionaire teenager with fame and honestly say they wouldn't be inclined to make the same kind of mistake.
Do you know how many gen-z women crave the sort of attention that comes with being the spouse of a celebrity, with how prominent social media is today? A lot, whether they'd admit it or not.
Not to say it's good or healthy, but that's what it is. Many of our priorities are very backwards and superficially based these days.

Oh man, this thread has now jumped into lecturing on one interpretation of calling beautiful women shallow. I think going forward any potential triggering words have to come with a disclaimer of what was meant and what was not meant.

Either way, I'm uninterested in the Domestic Concerns of Evander Kane and Family, I'm more interested in what it means from a hockey perspective.

I read what Lehner said, defending Kane. I didn’t read anything about race in his statement, same with this thread.

Lol. Why do people throw misogyny around like a buzz word.
Nothing misogynistic about pointing out the fact that many women are more inclined to opt for a stable option and (in these younger generations) be enticed by celebrity status. Things like that are just highly valued in today's society. It's just the way it is.
If you're attractive and can easily have your pick of the lot, why wouldn't you opt for the very best option you can have, as far as social status? That actually seems more smart than shallow. The truth of that may hurt feelings, but in their place you would probably do the same.
Thats not to say that it precludes other qualities, but that status absolutely pre-qualifies you to have an opportunity to date her. If you consider the prospect of having a family etc, then someone with the type of career of a pro athlete will facilitate that stability and freedom.
I don't think that truth is something that needs to be danced around just to appease a certain crowd that has a hard time accepting that their are certain truths in today's society that don't necessary look great from afar.

Word. I don't get why people throw labels out then paint themselves as sanctimonious but it happens. The possibility of a different point of view just goes by the wayside. But hey, the punchline sounds good, so let's ignore what the original statement was, or what the person meant.

That was the fun of it. Which grown man takes someone's clothes and throws it in the shower? I personally felt bad for Kane at the time, but I'm thinking Buff wanted to knock the cocky guy down a notch.

Because the term gold-digger is an offensive stereotype and mysogynistic. So the reason for throwing it around is to call it for what it is.
https://www.psychologytoday.com/ca/b...rd-gold-digger
"The term "gold-digger" gets thrown around like car keys flung on the kitchen table, but the traits of the target of such vitriol are clear: the gold-digger is scheming, vapid, and predatory. She's a one-note tune, a shell of a woman who breathes in dollar signs and destroys all men in her path. The so-called gold-digger has no feelings, no true convictions, and dreams in Technicolor for all things money can buy. Wow, I know a lot of women, but I don't know any women like that. Yet men and women alike seem to use this term in a diagnostic way, summing such a woman up as if the label were true or indicative of a thorough investigation into her character. Really, I know that we, as a society, are capable of better than rushing to such judgment."
And trophy wife is the same.
https://www.shethepeople.tv/top-stor...ut-derogatory/
Don't want people calling this stuff out? Then stop using the terms.

Ok so can you clarify what you think the person meant by the original statement?
Because this...
"A lot of these rich athletes marry gold digger trophy wives based on looks and looks alone"
Seems pretty straightforward to me.

A family member of mine was drafted into an organization Kane was a part of and the stories are hilarious. Take this as the orange Juliusness it is but the guy was almost so embarrassing one should take pity on him. Definitely not 100% upstairs from what I have heard and none of these stories surprise me. Sometimes where there’s smoke…

I’m not going to attempt to put words in their mouth but my interpretation is that he’s saying some athletes marry based on superficial traits. Can’t that be true? It can also be false? It’s up for debate. I don’t think it severe to call it a stereotype and get called out for. That much I know.

Based on the information we have, seems like Mrs. Kane is the one who made a regrettable choice in who she married. And if she's a "gold digger" she definitely did that wrong by marrying someone with an effectively negative net income
