The amount of God makes me question everything. Hey, don’t thank science or the doctors that saved your daughter. It’s all God. Yes God. In 2020 he thanks God for saving his daughters life.
Still, I respect the decision and I would so the same. Except less God.

Yeah some people just can't seem to shred it, I know a fellow who caught it in April and every time he feels healthy again and starts to work out it drops him again, 3 times now he got very sick from the same infection and the poor guy has lost 30 lbs in 10 weeks, his lungs are weak and it also has cost him some memory loss so now he writes most things down, fortunately he can work from home and get a pay check.

He would have to leave her for months to stay in the bubble.
I cannot fathom someone arguing it is selfish to stay home with their family during a pandemic vs going and playing a game. He is giving up everything he has worked for in his career right now to stay home and take care of a daughter who he thought he might lose. Honestly I am a bit flabbergasted you think that is selfish. Who is he lacking consideration for? Are you telling me he is supposed to put his teammates or the fans needs before his families?
|
Yes he is putting his own self interest above that of his team. That is what he should be doing. I don’t see how you can call it anything but selfish though. You seem to be applying a negative connotation to the word in this instance. Most people behave selfishly all of the time.
He gets all of the benefit of the extension of the NHL season with none of the risk. If all players made the same decision it wouldn’t work. Therefore you have a tragedy of the commons type situation which encourages the selfish choice.
He isn’t giving up anything.

This is not a troll job.
It is a discussion on an internet forum.
I fully understand Travis Hamonic and his choice not to play. I have even said if I were him I would probably make the same choice. Knowing his past very well.
Is he scared? His father orphaned his kids at a young age. The guy does not want to repeat this. Of course he is scared.
Would I say it to his face and fight him?
The guy is a warrior. I never called him a coward! Toughest kid ever to come out of St. Malo! Dont take my word for it my family can tell you all about him. He was the neighbor kid for some time.
We know him. We respect him, just not his choice not to play. Once again we understand his choice.
His family is not at risk here. He is. He has made a choice to stay home with his family. He is currently under contract to play.
He made a choice to not play for selfish reasons. I fully admit I would probably do the same if I was in his world.
I am not belittling the man. It was not the intent.
Yet you can not make this a hero thing either. He is not doing this for his family. He is doing this for himself.
I just dont see how he infects his family without being sick and being 1500 km away from his family.

The penalty kill was fine in Hamonic's absence last season. In the fourteen games he missed before the postponement the Flames were in the top-ten.

Almost every person on the planet believes in a god of some form or variation. Like it or not, this is not something that is likely to change anytime soon.

Actually I believe about 7% of the world population are defined atheists/ agnostics and likely a whole lot more are of the closet variety.
Some say in as little as 50 years there will be more non believers than believers in a deity of any sort let alone a religious one

Agnostics are still believers. Sort of.

Just worked through this thread this morning from start to finish.
WHAT A DISASTER! LMAO
Lots of people with idiotic opinions and statements.
Equally as many people that don't respect other's opinions...
I can't wait for the actual hockey to start so we can ignore these types of threads.

Good thing Domi stayed clear, multiple sources including a big article in the Athletic this morning report multiple positive COVID tests in MTL.

Taking a while to get to 5000

The headline was maybe a touch sensationalistic, as the report is 3 players. Which isn't to say that was the final number, or that I'm discounting any number as unimportant. Just felt like it was going to be larger when he said multiple and not several.

The long lasting impacts of this virus are pretty worrisome. On CNN, I see Cuomo and their British correspondent, don't know his name right now, talking about their recoveries quite a bit and how they are still dealing with it long term. Things like decreased lung capacity, off and on memory loss or confusion, lack of coordination, trouble sleeping and weird dreams, etc. This virus attacks the body in some strange ways and damage caused appears to be long lasting.

I guess you have your opinions on Hamonic just as I have my opinion on you as a selfish person based on your last two posts. What an awful awful two posts...

Let's not forget his Daughter fell very ill around 8 months old and required hospital time in the PICU.
One would assume that scare has led them to be very cautions this time around and perhaps his daughter is high risk and doesn't want to take ANY chances at all.
Cant fault the guy... come on people.

I loath how that poster thinks he knows the risk Hamonic's family has to Covid, does he have access to their medical records? It doesn't take much to fall into the high risk group, many illnesses, past or present increase the risk, many medications also increase the risk.
I'll tell you what is selfish, being an ####### on the internet because someone refused to play for your favorite team during a pandemic.

This guy quoted one of my posts a while back in the board game thread I think. I still had notifications enabled on my phone, so I get a notification that "This post is terrible" quoted your post and I get that Oh God sinking feeling. Prepare to be lynched by the CP mob. It was a totally benign post so no harm.
The guy is a masterclass in subtlety.
