Bjorkstrand had 21 goals in 49 games this year... if he hadn't hurt his ankle he probably smashes past the 30-goal plateau. That's first-line winger material, not a third-line winger.

No you're not getting couturier and hischier, but it better be for prospects that will be as good as those guys a little down the road.
Gaudreau is a win now acquisition so of course the team isnt going to gut their present roster to bring him in, makes no sense.
But you'd best be getting top 10 pick caliber player/s coming back to offset how it is likely to hurt the flames short term.
It really is that simple. The pieces you've mentioned don't fall into that category which is why I think it's no go from the Flames' end. Even if you think bjorkstrand is better than a middle sixer, he isn't on Gaudreau's tier. What he was projecting to put up is a game thats easy to play, and can be said for many players that go half a season on a tear but until the player puts up 30+ goals they havent put up 30+ goals.
Maybe he's a lindholm. But we have a lindholm and gaudreau has a different skillset that we'll need to replace to some degree but much preferably at the center position because we're learning that thats the more important position when it comes to assembling a winning team.

I am very curious to see what happens with Barzal on the Island. He doesn't seem happy there and might push his way out. The issue is the Islanders are going to want a C back imo. So that kind of kills the idea of offering Gaudreau+ to pry him out of there.

Barzal has the same leverage that Tkachuk had coming off of an ELC. He has some sway because of the quality of player that he is, but Lou holds most of the cards. Barzal can holdout, and get a Johnny situation where he hits UFA sooner, but likely he does what Tkachuk did and take a high money bridge.

Should do up a big offer sheet for Pulock and after they match then do an even bigger one for Barzal and hope they just have to walk away from it.
Hall - Barzal - Lindholm
Tkachuk - Monahan -
Dayumm!
Deal Gaudreau to recoup some high end futures to make up for the four 1sts you'd lose for Barzal.

That’s a scenario where it could be a monster deal for Monahan and Gaudreau with the Islanders adding to balance things out. I have suggested Eberle but I feel there should be another small add from the Islanders side.

If he isn’t happy, that’s your Gaudreau trade.

No question about it. So would NYI probably. Better than magic beans. But giving up that many magic beans is terrifying.

I'm thinking its 60 mil over 7 years. So it still comes in under 9 per.

If we could change that 2020 1st to Kylington and a 2nd it would be even better

Usually I'm with you, but if the resulting trade contains Eichel, Barzal or Barkov im in. Otherwise it's not happening.
