Well, that turned out way better than I thought it was going to. Down 2-0 and then a fantastic response to claw back and tie it up.

He is so close to putting it in the net too, when it breaks open I hope the flood is glorious for him!

Good response after the early deficit. That's what didn't happen last game.
On the whole, this team has responded to adversity this year and not given up on games when behind. This is already different from last year under Gulutzan, but there's still an occasional old habit that needs correction. I still think Peters will get rid of some of those bad habits as the year goes on.
Now, we need two solid periods of hockey with solid goaltending to get a win and get back on track.

Much better 2nd half of that period. I still don’t like how deep Smith plays in his net but that was a tolerable period. His passing has been helpful because he’s keeping it simple and not trying to do too much. The team was trying to be way too cute exiting the zone for the first 10 minutes but seemed better the last 10 minutes. Johnny’s feeling it, Brodie hasn’t had any major gaffe’s and the rookie 3rd pair was steady and solid.

Cassie Campbell pointed it out as well, but Tkachuk was a huge part of that 2nd goal. Gaudreau's watching Orpik the whole way, and the instant he turned to shove Tkachuk it opened up that lane. Great recognition by Gaudreau and Lindholm, but that lane being open was all Tkachuk.

Won't blame Smith on the first goal...just a pretty passing play by the Caps.
But Smith is too deep in net on the second goal and coughed the rebound right out in front.

Unfortunately the Flames this season will have to win the fire wagon high scoring games for success, top to bottom we don’t have the shut down defense to win the tight low scoring contests. People pay money to ride roller coasters, as fans we need to embrace the fun.

Liking the lines combos so far, just like to see a bit more urgency and taking care of things in their own zone. Keep improving as they go and they got this.

She did. I really don’t like the hate she gets around here. There are waaaay worse colour commentators out there.
Charlie “keep your feet moving” Simmer springs to mind.

Bold of the Caps to give a 0-5 goalie a shot against a juggernaut like the Flames.
