I'm surprised the refs only gave Kucherov an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for the kick. The rule book calls for 5 and a game and an auto hearing with player safety.

Didn't Friedman read Trotz's lips during the handshake after the Caps-Jackets series and he said something like "I'm done" to Torts? Pretty sure he denied it (of course he would) but he may have had enough. Not like he can't afford to retire.
It would have been a really weird comment to by a guy moving on to another round. Now if they had been eliminated and Torts says "better luck next year" and Trotz says "nope" that makes more sense.
Other possibilities to Friedman's reading "I'm done":

It's also kind of an underrated roster as the more you watch them the more you realize they have impressive depth. I remember many of us not being a fan of that Kuznetsov contract but he looks like he's worth that money. Really good player.
On paper this team seems nowhere close to the team they had running into the playoffs last year, but watching the games it's almost night and day to compare their actual playoff performance.
Eller, Vrbana and Stephenson have been far more important players in these playoffs than Johansson and Williams were in the past couple of runs. Kunstesov, Wilson and Connelly have all taken their game to another level. Even DSP has brought more to the table than Winnick ever did.
Schmidt was probably the caps best defensemen in the playoffs last year, but Karlson is continuing his Norris calibre year and Orlov is playing lights out. And Kempeny appears to have been a steal from Chicago.

I lipread for a living so ill give it a shot! Torts is saying, I hope you get a big contract... but is not finished talking when Trotz says "I am not coming back I'm gone.
That's my best guess, occasionally I can lipread from the side but but this was a tough one with angle and the head moving the other way.

Cool. But I suppose it could mean he's not coming back to Washington and is gone from there.
Plus, money changes everything. If someone pays him $10M for a couple seasons...

I agree with the above (not that I'm a professional), but it also seems like Torts says in the response to the above: "Really? Fu** you"...but obviously not in an insulting way, he says that as he's shaking his hand and shoves it forward just more in a "good for you man" kind of way.
