Makes absolutely no sense when you want to trade truculence with ability to score goals to prop up an invisible man. Might as well trade Monahan and Gaudreau since they have great value as well.

I don't know, it was kind of weird but who cares. This stuff has happened forever but social media has brought it to our phones and tablets. Still no Brian Trotier.

We don’t know for sure it wasn’t a player. Or maybe someone called Hamonic a fat idiot and he’s mimicking that.
It’s a 2 second clip. Let’s not jump to conclusions just yet.

Johnny is becoming a puck hog. He had Mony for a wide open tap in earlier and decided to shoot and miss the net. Then on a 2 on 0 he decides to try shooting it and missing the net again.
Poor decision making but you can tell he's squeezing the stick a bit tight and wants to make a difference.

This.
If your going to taunt you'll get it back. If your obese that should be expected.

This loss stings a bit, but it is at least a point in a very difficult matchup and the team played alright. My hope is that they use this loss as a rallying point, because right now it's time to win the next five games. We have Buffalo, Ottawa, Islanders, Oilers and Sharks coming up, and there are absolutely zero excuses for this team if they don't take advantage of this chance to get back into the race. After that it's Vegas coming up, but then there's another string of highly winnable games including all the California teams. Just looking at the remaining schedule it should be very doable to go with a record of 10-5 or even 11-4 the rest of the way. We have been playing poorly and lucked out for far too long, so it's about damn time to get your crap together and go on a serious run right now Flames! JUST GET IT DONE!

Agree 100%. I still think we can make it! Schedule is really not that bad and I guess it is our turn now to go on some HUGE winning streak! Go Flames!!!!!!!!!!! Will come to CGY on Fri, hope I will be a good luck charm for home games during my stay, my record at the Dome is something like 7-1-2. Really good! Go Flames!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..................... and Go Flames!!!!!!!!!!for the third time.....now it will work:-)

They played well. I can’t fault the effort.
However our top guys can’t get it done and without Smith we have bottom quartile goalies.
My biggest concern is given Smith isn’t a long term solution, where do we go from here? Without him we have Anaheim series quality in goal, and no easy to see prospect of sorting that out.
We also need more depth up front. But how do we get that?
It is starting to look like we have mortgaged the future to maintain a team that is bubble at best.

Lol he has 50 some assists...made a couple wrong decisions in hindsight but a puckhog? Come on now

JSYK, going 10-5 gives them 94 points and a likely playoff miss (28%). Getting to 95 points increases it to about 48%, 96 makes it about 72%.
When the margins are thin in a parity filled league, long streaks of any type are rarer. When you are chasing 3 teams for the last spot, and are in each’s rear view mirror, it’s virtually impossible to gain on all 3 without stringing together a bunch of wins.
You are correct, it is time for a serious run.

First off, good for Hamonic. Don't dish out what you can't take.
Second, I just can't get over the disappointment of this season. It's so hard to be positive about this team right now. There's a bunch of negative crap I could post but honestly what's the point? It's all been beaten to death. I haven't given up hope for the playoffs quite yet but I'd be lying if I said I was optimistic about their chances.
It should be an interesting off season in Calgary. Whether it's a roster shakeup or a change in coaching/management, I think we'll see some kind of change. I don't see how anyone can look at this season and think what they have currently is good enough. I don't know how to fix this team. Treliving has his work cut out for him. This is a make or break off-season.

Didn't watch the game, just listened to the first period while I was driving to a bar across town to meet some friends.
First 3 minutes sounded really ugly. 2 goals down, in fact, it sounded like Gilles was flat out terrible the entire period. That being said, credit to the flames tying it before the end of the first and getting the game to OT.
I'm shockingly ok with the result given the start and the useless goaltending. They need points. For me, they only had 9 points to give up, now that's down to 8. I doubt they can go the rest of the way and only lose 4 games.... Winning the next 2, would definitely go a long way though.
I would be hesitant to give Gilles another start.

Well, thanks to Glen Gulutzan and Dave Cameron, the Flames are set to miss the playoffs. Thank you, guys. You are doing an excellent job...
I was ridiculed back in November/December when I suggested it might happen, considering how poor of a job they have been doing and unfortunately, it seems I was right. Poor puck luck, it's been only 20, 30, 40 games, Mike Smith is not carrying this team, advanced stats this, advanced stats that....I've heard all sorts of excuses. Well, here we are. And it boggles my mind that people still, after everything, defend this guy.
I will say, I am glad Treliving did not go after a goalie at the TDL. Now we know we can't count on Gillies and Rittich to be actual NHL goaltenders. It was a great opportunity for them to showcase themselves and make a case for a backup spot next year but they failed massively. Good luck with that now.
Brutal season. The ONLY bright side is Gulutzan will most likely get shown the door at the end of the year. So, there is that.

Pens also had back-up in the net, who is actually two years younger than Gillies. If they had their starter and we had our starter injured, it could be somewhat legit excuse. But it was our back-up versus theirs and we have no one but ourselves to blame for having such a poor back-up.
