WOW, 9 goals?! Amazing...
Good in the room... who gives a a rat's ass? Stajan is good in the room, Brouwer is good in the room. The fact is, what they do on the ice is what matters the most. And he's been scratched 7 times in the past 9 games and 12 times since Jan 4th. Great player, for sure.
In isolation, it's a no risk signing. I understand that. What pisses me off, though, is what it symbolizes. Instead of going for speed and youth, we get another old and slow player who's best season was 5+ years ago. We need depth scoring, Chris Stewart is NOT that. Last time he hit 30+points was in 2012-2013. And he scored 36. How will this improve our depth scoring?
Just because it's a no risk, doesn't make it a good move.
|
I missed the player floating around for free who has those assets.
This move means nothing more than adding some size and some experience to the bottom part of the roster for absolutely nothing but what he is owed on the rest of his deal this season.
You really are "way over the top" reacting on this man.

Considering what Nash cost, I'll take this waiver pick up.

With our lack of depth on RW, a free asset that can play or sit at no acquisition cost absolutely is.
What can't be debated, is it's not as bad a move as you're worked up about and attempting to make it sound. You're being "that guy" this morning, and have gone from saying you don't like the move to being on a plight about it.
Relax, and step away from the ledge.

Let's be honest, nine goals isn't much. And he hasn't been able to crack 30 points for a few years now.
Perhaps I've went a bit overboard and haven't expressed myself properly. I probably should have taken a bit time to calm myself before posting. I'll admit to that.
That said, I still stand behind what I said. I don't think he's gonna be an improvement to our bottom six.

Just chatted with Chris Stewart. Some notes from him:
-“I’m gonna work my bag off” to prove team right
-being in and out in Minny didn’t allow him to get in a groove
-he’ll fit up and down the lineup, ready to play anywhere
-physical game will be a great fit in Calgary

Same as Sam Bennett. In 16 fewer games and with much less ice time.
Just sayin.

Well that's the beauty of this transaction. If he doesn't do anything, the Flames haven't given up a pick or prospects to bemoan about and he is gone when the season ends.

Cool, probably all that happens today for the Flames. Having no draft picks makes moves a smidge difficult. No cost and off you go if he doesn’t fit, I don’t get why some people lose their minds over minor moves like this.

Like I said, I understand the move. By itself, it's not that bad. I just wish Flames went younger with their bottom six.

Free depth addition. Extra truculence for playoffs. UFA at end of the season. Very low risk. I can see almost no down side to this acquisition.

No kidding. Waivers is not where you acquire Paul Byron.

There is no conceivable way this is a bad move for the Flames.
This thread pretty lol worthy.
This keeps Lomberg and Glass out of the lineup.

They still might. Maybe another move, or a significant move, is unlikely, but there's still some time.

Everyone is so obsessed with youth now that I think player evaluations are being clouded with a sort of age bias. There’s a couple players out there above the age of 25 that are somewhat capable hockey players.

Well, good thing the GM does not rely on fan opinion to make player personell decisions.
