I just hope the NHL isn't overcorrecting for their past mistakes as this is the kind of play that goaltender interference was brought in to correct.

Agree with the assessment. Not kicking, but definitely interference.

There's no way that isn't. He took Smith out of his crease completely by sliding and kicking underneath him.

That's why kicking the puck in shouldn't count I guess. A failed kick in results in kicking Smith.
