A few thoughts in my mind after this game.
1) This losing streak against the oilers must be driving Burke and Treliving out of their minds. NFL coaches get fired for not being able to beat their biggest in division rival.
2) Put the lines in a blender. Jankowski, Bennett and Hathaway have gone cold. Maybe Bennett would be engaged if he played with some talent. Give him a try with Tkachuk and Backlund. Brouwer doesn’t belong on that line anyway.
3) the winning streak hid a lot of warts. How many leads (several by multiple goals) did we blow? We were very lucky to be 7-0 going into the break.
4) one more (or just one) power play goal per game would make a monumental difference. It’s appalling that they can’t figure out a way to get this done.
5) Monahan hasn’t been himself. Loubardias seemed to be suggesting on the radio that he was dealing with some personal isssues off the ice. He could be right cause Monny just seems off.
6) until we start treating McDavid the way the Ducks do he will continue to kill us. Today’s athletes are too chummy. How many beers ya think tim hunter had with semenko in the offseason. I’ll give ya a clue. Not a goddamn one.

You have to wonder if the Flames players notice and think "well they don't get fired up either way, so I don't really give a crap."
|
Place was pretty quiet until Oilers finally scored their first and got energy into their game and the place.
Flames need to fed energy into the crowd first. We know how loud and excited it can get in there in the playoffs, so the crowd is fully capable of it. But their play at home hasn't inspired for the roof to be blown off on regular occasion.
And to be fair, this is the regular season where the expectations is playoffs at the minimum. Mix in a corporate culture, and the dome energy isn't gonna be that high unless the Flames are having a great game on the goal sheet.

They need to send Cotton-Eyed Joe to Cotton-Eyed Death Row.

Ya and i said even without frolik versteeg and Smith we should beat a healthy oilers Team let alone missing 2 of their best players. I specifically commented on the context.

To be fair to fans there hasn't been a lot to cheer about as this team has not been very good at home.

Dome would be loud in that type of game...Flames comeback, entertaining game ect.
Rogers was dead until 2 quick goals

Overall, amazing trip I will remember forever.
But... ####!
Chucky was great. First goal I've seen in the Saddledome off his stick too!
More upset they blew 2-0 than lost in OT. The vibe with the Grease was good, and would have made up for the tragedy against the Sabres and the letdown against LA.

If losing this game to the Oilers doesn't make you angry then I wonder if you're really a Flames fan. Never mind the losing streak to that dumpster fire of an organization.

They awesome loud Oilers fans were booing and literally pissing on jerseys in the urinal at the last game. What's happening on the ice has a lot to do with it

Nope, just an overreaction on your part. Being in the game thread there was plenty of that sentiment and so I backed up what Dino said. Really not that big of a deal, nor was anything made up. I have no clue what your exact thoughts were tonight in regards to coach firings or where you think the flames will finish now.

I'd take the Anaheim curse for 10 more years (sans playoff games) than have a losing record in a season serirs to the Oilers in a season, let alone 7 losses in a row..

Ok.
I was trying not to be that guy for a while now but.....
Its a childrens game played by full grown men that dont deserve to make millions playing it. They are not advancing society. They don't cure people, they dont legislate, they are not inventors.
So he dosen't let it consume his whole life and upset him. The ones that always seem to be the most upset are the ones that don't have much going for them otherwise. To many bills and not enough money for other things so a free game is like a night out. The dad who to him this is a hobby . Etc.
Yes, sports are a nice escape from #### but some people take sports way to far and try to make them seem important. I havent missed one single game since 2008..not one . I have never taken it to heart like some people around here than attack any one who comments about pros vs. Cons of a game.
Just chill the #### out. No sportd game on earth has any real significant impact on how the the earth will function or impact any meaningful way people live day to day on this earth.
* with the exception of the riots that occuer from the Canuck always losing the cup.

Are there breakaway stats anywhere? It seems like a lot of really good players have sucked at breakaways over the years. Iginla and Johnny definitely. But I also wonder if it just seemed that way because they get so many of them. What's the success rate on a breakaway during a game when you know someone is chasing you down? I bet it is less than 20%.

I was at the game tonight. What a pathetic effort by the Flames. Embarrassing. Almost got in two fights. PP is horrible. Brouwer is just plain awful I’m every sense of the word. Guy can’t even throw a hard body check. Tkachuk and Lomberg played great. This team needs a major shakeup because if they do make the playoffs, I guarantee first round exit

I'm not overreacting. They have lost 4 straight games and throughout that I haven't called for a coach to be fired nor have I stated the season is over. Regardless of your fabrication the posts are here and they back me up. Why do some of you expect everyone to accept losing? I know some of you are putting the loser point spin on it but not everyone is going to fall for thinking that's good enough or acceptable. It's like you are mad some of us aren't suckers.

For a guy as composed and sometimes expressionless as Monahan is on the outside, it wouldn't surprise me if he has some #### going on behind the curtains. Good kid though, I hope he's able to work through it. We need him.
