I missed the Scott Oake interview but here is Rittich post-game on FlamesTV:
I love how he's completely calm -- he scoffed at the notion of being nervous before his first NHL start -- but at the end of the day he's just a young guy living out his dream... and he picked up his first W as well:

Unless people feel that Calgary can’t contend for the cup this season? I believe that they are going to be a scary good playoff team and I sure wouldn’t want to face them.
Enjoy it people.

I didnt think my comment was that negative.
My point is that there is room for improvement but the on ice record has been pretty good so far. Hopefully things will continue to improve and we'll see them have more 6-3-1 segments.

Some of you know I read lips, as you can see from this video and the videos on the Flames site have a CC button, but it does not work. Anyone with connections to the Flames that can fix this button so it is active. Dion posted the Ferland interview and that one being youtube was captioned so that made it enjoyable for me to watch. Any suggestions would be great thanks!

I don't claim to watch much if any of the Heat but I had heard the main difference between Rittich and Gillies is rebound control. As he showed last night his rebound control is solid and fundamentally he's very solid. One game doesn't make a career and it helps the Flames played a much better game defensively than the night before but nonetheless he certainly looked quite polished.

On your point, I've been wondering about how this team might perform in the playoffs. Do you think the change in officiating closer to the end of the season and the playoffs will disadvantage the Flames (especially Johnny) disproportionately compared with the rest of the league?

There was a play tonight in the second period that summed up Sam Bennett's lack of success this season, and reading the last few pages, also illustrates why Monahan is on pace for more than 45 goals.
The puck is coming down the wall from the far blue line. Jankowski is in a race with the defender, who is coming from the other direction. It's clear Jankowski is going to get there first, but he's going to have no time once he does.
Bennett needs to go hard to the near post, stop, and give Jankowski a target. Instead, he does a fly by, misses the pass, and the play goes the other way, ending in a Flames penalty.
Had Bennett stopped, he would have had an unimpeded attempt at the net from 2 feet out. He also had a teammate wide open at the bottom of the far circle if he so chose.
Monahan makes that a scoring chance if not a goal. Bennett isn't going to produce at all until he starts using his brain.

That is a good point!
He shows good body gestures but that is not helping much! He is barely moving his lips so this is a hard one to follow.

He basically said that he's happy with the win, thankful for blocked shots and that the team made his life easy, that he would want to get better at stopping shots through the screen, and that he wasn't nervous.

A great bounce back from the d corps. That was a pretty good complete game and even though Gaudreau was held pointless he was creating all game, just unlucky on some of his set ups.
They all played their roles and it was an entertaining, fast paced game. Well done.

The Flames have won as many games as they have because Gaudreau has been playing out of his mind and Smith has been bailing out the poor defense. The Flames have the 3rd worse GA in the conference and are the only team in the west currently in a playoff spot with a negative goal differential, that doesn't scream scary team to me. Secondary scoring is non-existent, the penalty kill is the 2nd worst in the league, and their defensive structure is laughably bad. As it stands if Gaudreau cools down even slightly the Flames will be lucky to be a .500 hockey club
It's fine to be optimistic, the Flames are in a good spot and if they can get better contributions down the lineup they will be a legitimate threat. But being realistic by pointing out the glaring holes does not make someone negative, it's more frustration than anything

I thought the penalty was sufficient. I think this probably has more to do with his history, landenskog has been suspended a few times. Unlucky spin on the wheel of justice as we have seen worse this season (looking at you Mantha).
