Petr figures he will be jet lagged / tired, so has decided to miss this first practice. That has been his experience the last two trips, very tired the first morning.

Good for me as my son will be continuing his dominance in Calgary South Atom at 1230 that day. Playoffs round 2, Go Wolves.

Wow! Thanks so much, I'm so excited! Hope they don't suck, although even if they do, it'll still be a great night, one to remember!

I'm in for Craft. In fact, Mrs Puppet ordered me to go, so she either wants me to finally make some friends or she just wants me out of the house. Either way, I'll be there.

Not sure. He's an obnoxious drunk and trouble can follow him, so I'll need to make sure he can guarantee some semblance of manners.

What time is the Shindig at Aeneas' place? I'll be burnt out from doing taxes all day so I'm looking forward to that!

Son plays playoff hockey game at 1200. It's at some far distant arena I have never heard of. Ernie Starr. Address looks like it's in Strathmore or something!

So, will be home around 1500 i guess. Come whenever. I will try to get the food coming out at around 1800 to start.

Saturday March 10 welcome party for Calgaryboy.

Anyone welcome, maybe just send a PM to let me know numbers. Hopefully all those who helped get him here can attend, and anyone who wants to meet up and talk Flames.

Will try to make as much central and Eastern European food as I can. Can't have it all ready at once, maybe I will just keep pumping out food for a few hours.

Tentative menu.

From Germany: schnitzel, spaetzle, knudel, cucumber salat, curry wurst, bratwurst, and Nurnberger Sausages.

Denmark: Frikadelle

Hungary: maybe Paprikas Csirke (at the least some paprika chicken of my own), Hungarian salad.

Slovakia: Bryndzove Halusky. One of my favourite things! It has bacon on it, be happy.

Czech/Moravian: Vlassky salad (Petr won't love it as it is my own take, but suck it up!)
Vepro Knedlo Zelo (one of Petr's favs that I will likely ruin! It is pork, dumplings and cabbage)

For dessert will make my two favourites: Poffertjes (little Dutch pancake thingys with icing sugar)
and Chocolate chip banana bread liberally covered in Custard...and more bananas...and more chocolate.

Of course there will also be veggies, cheese and meats.

I should be at most games or weekend practices, so I'll try to pop by and say hello.

My tummy is rumbling just looking at that menu. I'm jealous that I won't be there. I read the menu to my wife and she just stared at me for a while and then said, "...can we........should we go?"

She's joking of course, but it all sounds amazing. Have fun!

Do you happen to know if any Calgary restaurant serves this? It's a childhood favorite of mine.

I wonder if the European Bakery and Deli in Kensington would have it? They might know of a restaurant who serves it anyway.

Nothing, nothing, would make me happier than to have a plate of Calgaryboy's Mom's goulash. We should have really bought her a ticket to come and make food for us. Her goulash is reason enough to go to southern Czech. Yeah CB is a cool guy, he'll drive you around to some awesome sites, but I'd make a special trip just for the goulash.

So hungry right now!
