Yeah... I know all about it. I think Bobby has like 4 years left on his term but some of those other GS9 members got hit with like 50 year sentences. I think I read a story on another forum of somebody who was a family member to a victim that was murdered by their gang. Sad stuff.

I have gone from being somewhat dour because of seemingly casual approach in regards to picks to being extremely optimistic about the franchise right now.

It's difficult to see the moving parts from behind the computer in my underwear in my parents basement, but I do think there is something to the idea of the flames moving those draft picks and signing Foo. I do believe there was an organizational view of those as a potential swap. Media leaks from the organizations interested in Foo about his interest in them notwithstanding, I don't believe he ever attended a development session with either the Oilers or Red Wings, just the Flames and San Jose. They likely had at least some indication for the last while that Foo was at least a serious option to sign in Calgary. Foo's agent is also Bouma's.

I understand right now some of the speculation is that he will start or stay in the minors but I don't think so. The team will say all the right things, the player will say all the right things, sure no spots are 'guaranteed', but Foo is going to have to play himself out of getting an opportunity in my opinion, not the reverse. They didn't sign him to play in the minors, and while he may need some seasoning, I don't think the expectation from either side is he will spend much of his 2 year deal in the minors.

IF he turns out to be a top 6 player, the flames will have hit the jackpot by adding a prime aged top 6 scorer to the lineup without acquisition cost. If he turns out to be a bottom 6 player, it's still found money.If he doesn't work out at all; oh well.

I am glad that the Flames have now added 4 good right wingers with size and/or skill over the past couple drafts/ufa. Between Tuulola, Fischer, Joly and now Foo, you hope that one of them turns into a viable forward in the NHL. Anything that helps the team closer to that area not being a gaping hole would be a great thing.
