Price per year is high but that seems to be the going rate. On day 1 you have to shine the money stack to get a reputable decent player.

He's an upgrade on Colborne - gotta look to one of the kids to fill the #3 RW spot.
I like it. Term was reasonable.

I am happier with this signing than what Lucic got up north. Both bruising right wingers who average 20 goals a season. Lucic has averaged 30 assists to Bower's 20 but assists can also be a function of linemates and I am not sure who they have been playing with for the last few years.
Term wise Brouwer is done at 34, Lucic at 35 and 1.5M less for 10 less assists seems like a good deal to me.
Would have liked less term but compared to filling a gaping hole on the Flames and paying the FA tax it isn't that bad and gives another winning vetern experience to the locker room. Hell Feaster would have given him a NMC to boot so it could always be worse.

did not have alot of faceoffs last year but still 57%, year before in washington took over 400 and finished at 56%. Could use him on his strong side as we desperately need to be better at draws

Best part of your lineup projection is that 4th line.

I really hope that there are more trades or signings, we are still not a playoff team.

Complete Top Pairing Defenseman VS Depth Shutdown Defenseman.
It's right there in the chart. Not sure why you would bother comparing two players wiht such different roles.

Are we sure that he doesn't have a NMC or a NTC?

I don't mind it. I guessed 4x4 but then when the day started and the crazy term came out I was worried. This is a decent contract that expires when he is only 34. You need good veterans and he is a right shot right wing that is 6'3 213. I am good with this.
Flames have addressed 2 of their biggest needs. 2 top 6 forwards (Brouwer and Tkachuk) and solidly the goaltending (Elliot and Johnson)

Bennett is still playing with not very talented players and Tkachuk is a LW not a RW.

I'm not thrilled with the AAV or the term (3 years @ $4 mil per year would have sat better for me), but it is probably worth it for the Flames right now.
Troy Brouwer represents one of the essential pieces this team needs. With that in mind, this contract seems about fair on the UFA market (i.e. no extra acquisition cost of trading for a similar player).

My vote goes with the "Flames got the type of player they needed today" crowd. Also think it was a year too much and $500 000 over but that's what happens with UFAs. Especially ones with a cup ring and a good playoff reputation.
So this makes me smile and watching the Canucks & Oilers completely overpay and overterm my smile becomes a laugh

This is so huge for Calgary, gives the coaching staff some options and a relief valve.
I am so stoked to see brouwer in a flames uniform.

What is the point? The Chart tells you the role. If the roles aren't comparable you don't look further down. If the roles are comparable (Which Brouwer 2016 vs Glencross 2015 are) then you look further down.

We still don't know if Tkachuk is going to be in the lineup and you have him as one of top 6, starting next year.
