Burke scored a bunch on rush drills. Pollock scored a couple in the minigame in the first group as well.

Haynes is the best. I'm surprised no local newspapers have picked him up as a beat writer for the Flames.

Most people are pegging Gillies as the flames future #1 goalie. Does he look like an elite goalie in the future?

He's drawn lots of comparisons to Jonathan Quick if you want to look at it that way.

Thanks, I am good with that Stanley cup winning goalie. Gillies seems to be injuried a lot, hope he is not like John Gibson.

He works for Canada's top wire service, the Canadian Press.

Probably rusty.
He played in the Under-20 Swedish playoffs.

Tyler Parsons writeup

http://calgaryherald.com/sports/hock...-not-spotlight

Quote:
“He’s a very competitive goalie who was probably the biggest piece for our team this year to go as far as we did and to win what we did,” praised Matthew Tkachuk, Parsons’ teammate with the OHL powerhouse London Knights and fellow prospect in the Calgary Flames’ pipeline.

“I still don’t think he gets enough credit for doing what he did. We won 17 in a row, and that means he couldn’t have a night off. He had to be our backbone every single night.”

Credit, it seems, is not high on the priority list for the 18-year-old Parsons.

The Knights’ top trio of Christian Dvorak, Mitch Marner and Tkachuk — Calgary’s sixth-overall selection at the 2016 NHL Draft — didn’t just pile up points. Along the way, they piled up press clippings, too.

On London’s back end, Olli Juolevi was attracting plenty of eyeballs as the best of the draft-eligible blue-liners.

And between the pipes, Parsons simply stopped pucks. Ho-hum.

During the OHL playoffs? A 16-2 mark, including three straight sweeps to finish the job. Parsons’ other stats — a 2.15 goals-against average and .925 save percentage — prove he didn’t need nearly as much run support as his buddies were providing.

At the Memorial Cup in Red Deer? Four consecutive wins, with a sparkling 1.78 GAA and .942 save percentage.

Thanks to his OT winner, Tkachuk was named first star of the championship game.

Thanks to 29 stops, including four in the sudden-death session, Parsons was second star that afternoon at the Enmax Centrium in Red Deer.

Does he have a history of injuries or just the one big one that nagged him for 3 years?

Honest question, hadn't heard of injury troubles with him before

It's funny, I've also seen Parsons compared to Quick.

That write-up has me stoked on Ollas Mattson. I didn't realize he was that big, and adding a sizeable defensive D man who can lay a check would be awesome for this team (one not named Engelland).

Went back and read the stories in that link. The piece on Treliving was excellent. Very balanced and focused on how he has learned from some mistakes. Good writing and research I thought. Good analysis of the Colborne situation too, but written before he signed for $2.5 million.

Haynes' articles are usually informative, often entertaining, and seldom negative.

He comes across as knowledgeable and level headed.

I was also wondering that. In my quick Internet search I can't any other injuries

Carroll looked mostly the same from the previous camp. He's a little thicker, but there were no noticeable differences from his game last year. He's still a physical defensive minded guy that's a work in progress.

Hunter Smith is rocking a Joe Thornton/Brent Burns epic beard. He is a lot quicker in his first three steps. Was actually one of the quicker forwards from the first group. Engages physically and was more tenacious. Still 2 years away, but his speed isn't as much of a drawback as it was. Looked good. Dan thought he was the most complete of any of the players today. I think Janko was better overall, but Smith was up there also.

Kanzig leveled Dube and cut his lip open with a nasty hit, it was not intended to be as big a hit as it was. He is progressing as well in all areas. Still a few years away, but he is markedly better than this time last year. It's about the same amount of improvement relative to his prior season as it was from 2 years ago to last year. If he continues to steadily improve, he may eventually work his way to the NHL.

Man if Smith ever becomes an NHL caliber player, let alone a middle six guy, he is going to be everyone's favorite player. I hope that he's being developed as a skill guy in the AHL and not just a goon getting 8 minutes of ice-time per game.

Janko was the fleetest of foot of any forward. Very quick starts and stops, good stick reads, good at driving plays. Significant improvement over last season, and he was arguably the best player last year. As ready for the NHL as I have seen any prospect at one of these camps. Whether he starts in the NHL or begins in Stockton will be determined by his training camp and other players camps.

However, he will be the first prospect call up if he is sent down and I wouldn't be surprised if he played more than 50% of this season. Could also be used on the wing if necessary due to the three C's in place.

AOM - Very physical. Liked engaging with people. Did have difficulty with the quick short guys like Phillips. Foot speed is an area he needs to work on, but that's the same thing with everyone.

Hickey - the drills weren't overly offensively oriented, so it was hard to determine on that front, but he was adequate defensively. Pretty much the type of playing from him that you would expect. Decent progression.

Kanzig - He's mean still, but is actually a more complete player. Still has a ton of holes in his game, but he is progressing. If he continues to progress as he has the last two years over the next 2-3 years, he could be a huge version of Deryk Engelland.

Falkovsky wasn't out there and I don't recall Bruce, so either he didn't skate or he was not noticeable in the same way that most of the walk ons were invisible.

RAW

You can see some skill there though. Call back in 4 years.

Definitely. If he was 6-1, he would have gone in the top 20.

There are d-men that are passive and don't use their physical assets like Juolevi. Then there are D-men like Fox. He might be small, but he has a lot of heart. Instantly became one of my favourite prospects. Knocked a few people over and was one of the most physical of all players and smart in how he used his physicality to separate people from the puck.
