Always enjoyed reading his posts and he was always a very respectful poster. I know when people pass people always say nice things but in this case it is all deserved. Condolences to the family and his loved ones. RIP.

My condolences to his family and friends. Loved by a lot of people in here and that goes to show what a easy going, friendly and peaceful man he was. Rest in peace brother.

I was going to post the same thing tonight. It sounds so cliche but, in his case, so true. Thanks so much Neeper for sharing your story and the details with all of us here.

So sorry to hear this... he's been here for as long as I have and I always thought he was a very good contributor to the site. He was as dedicated of a fan as anyone here.

Thought I recognized the tiny pic of phanuthier posted earlier in the thread. Just confirmed it; this kid used to hang out with my little sis at Churchill. I remember him hanging around the house. Too young. Feel terrible for his wife.

Wow. Sad news. I was fortunate enough to get to meet up with him during a trip out to California a few years back. Really nice guy, and enjoyed having a beer with him and his fiancée.

That's what I get just from someone typing words onto a page on the internet. We should all be so lucky to leave such a lasting and positive impact on others in such a limited form of interaction.
Wherever you are Phanuthier, be well and be at peace. You will be missed.

A short anecdote - I was asking him if he knew of any other CPers around Silicon Valley, and he had mentioned you. When I asked if you guys ever met, he said you were supposed to hang out at a game in San Jose, but when he saw you he said you looked "intense" and was too nervous to introduce himself.

RIP to one of Calgarypuck's own. Phanuthier.
Wow. Awful news. He was an evergreen presence here. I joined in 2007 after following along on here since the 2002-03 season, and always enjoyed his varied insight and witty commentary. I wish I'd met him in person. I can't believe he got viral encephalitis, Christ. Terrible. My sincerest and heartfelt condolences go out to his family. R.I.P.

Dear all, I am his wife, and I like to thank you all for kind thoughts and remembering him. I knew Eddie only for the last 4 years of his life, but Eddie was a hard core Flames fan since he was 5 years old, and he was active member on CP since he was 8. Almost every time I see him on his phone, he was flipping through CP forums, and he really enjoyed being here. I am also happy to say that the last game he watched live was Flames vs Sharks game on Feb. 11. Needless to say, we were psyched to be there to witness one of the most... exciting and disappointing win.
He passed away on March 14 from complications of encephalitis.
His life was short, but he cherished every single moments of it, and he lived his life to the fullest. I wish he could live for many more years with us, but his legacy lives on.

Wow.
I vaguely remember a loose "let's meet up" thing that didn't happen, but I didn't know that he actually saw me. That's rather funny about the looking intense thing. My avatar loosely resembles me, but I'm one of the nicest, most approachable people I know. I suppose I'll have to work on my "intense resting face".
