Nice to see the team we once knew and loved show up today. Great game by Backlund. When you see him play like this, you wonder where that high-end skill disappears for twenty games at a time.

But I must say on a day where the team as a whole is competing harder than I've seen for a very long time, Johnny has been disappointing. He's one of our weakest forwards in this game.

Fine by me. Rather have the star player struggle while the team carries him, than have the star playing be amazing while the team lets him down.

After 2 periods, Flames leading in:

shots
FOs
hits
giveaways (fewer)
takeaways
blocked shots

and most importantly: goals

Ortio's been very good. Saved a few goals, first goal was a horrible bounce, second goal was the best player in the world with an unbelievable tip.

How's the Brodie-Hamilton pairing? Haven't seen much of the game

Hamilton was mostly 2nd unit until Wideman got suspended so all things considered Hamilton has accomplished more with less time on the PP.

Not bad. Offensively Brodie looks so much more dangerous on the left side IMO.

i dont get how we can have a period where we are pushing and outplaying the Pens and then get a 4 minute PP and dont continue to do the same things that we were before. Its like we think somehow it going to be easy now that we have the man advantage. too many cute passes, buttonhooks - just dump the puck in, go and get it - cycle and get open..
