1) All the playoff teams like to add defensive depth and secondary scoring heading into the playoffs.

2) The Flames may be one of the few sellers with veteran defensemen available (Russell, Smid, Engelland, Wideman) and scoring depth (Jones, Hudler).

There will be a lot of demand for depth, and not a lot of supply. This is because of how tight the standings are. There won't be many sellers and there will be many buyers.

This is why our depth guys may go for more than some of you think.

Which was one of the worst trades in the past few years. We aren't getting a Forsberg type player for Hudler, Wideman, Jones, Russell or any of the expiring contracts.
