Why? "we" took Granlund at 45 and Wotherspoon at 57. Kuch went 58th.

Imagine if Ovie and Thornton's kids/future kids got together and bred the ultimate hockey player. I think they need to make it happen for hockey's sake. Arranged marriages are a thing in Russia right? (jk)

Or a hybrid of Thornton and Jagr - you would have an NHL player like the energizer bunny who could play until they were into their 50's.

I think the point is Feaster may not have been comfortable gambling on both Kucherov and Gaudreau.

I am sure others have posted this but I (also) think he is not 100% healthy. I think his wrists are banged up and his back is still sore from Duncan Keith spearing him. So having said that Johnny still producing at this clip is incredible.
He is 6th in NHL scoring and he is 21 years old and he's a Flame. Pretty sweet.

Sure, but who is at this time of year? You are kidding yourself if you believe that virtually every one of the players at the top of the leaderboard for scoring does not endure the same sort of badgering that produces minor, nagging injuries. No one is 100% healthy in April.

The crazy part about this is he could legimately lead the league in scoring at some point in the near future. Regardless I sometimes still can't believe our fortunes with landing him.

The drafting of Gaudreau, Brodie, even Monahan when guys like Horvat and Ritchie were highly touted, and a guy as recent as Mangiapane in the 6th round are why I'm comfortable with our scouting staff moving forward. Tod Button, Jim Cummins (scouts the USHL) and the retired Tom Webster deserve credit for recognizing talent and potential even late into the draft.

Drafting Monahan ahead of Horvat and Bennett instead of Nick Ritchie in 2014 is not some sign of managerial sagacity, it is a sign that management is not incompetent. Horvat was not even a point/game player in his draft year.

Popping in here to say that if Johnny notches 2 points against the Canucks tomorrow, he is GUARANTEED to finish this season a point-per-game or above.
How incredible would that be? And it's the Canucks, on home ice... definitely do-able. I will be rooting hard for that.
My first wish for Johnny is point-per-game. The next goal, 80 points. If he has a hugeeee game against the Nucks and a good-ish game against Minnesota, 82 points would be outstanding.

Yep, and I would argue that's never really gone away. Personally, I think the exodus of Russians to the KHL has had a much more dramatic effect on league wide offense than the NHL will admit.
There's too much talent in that country for them to make up less than 5% of the league.

You know he'll get a PPG. He's not going to drop the ball in the final games.
The question is if he breaks 80. I'd hate for him to be so tantalizingly close and not eclipse that mark.

No way. Flames hats raining down at our last home game for the win.
how about we compromise and Monahan gets his first Hatty with Johnny getting all the assists?

For the final two games, no matter how it's arrived at, I just hope we hit
Gaudreau 3 Assists
Monahan 3 Goals (30)
Bennett 3 Goals (20)
Grant 1 Goal (First Career)
Backlund 2 Goals (20)
Ferland 1 Goal, off a clean shot
That would require scoring... 10 goals in 2 games
Doable.

^well one game is Vancouver, shouldn't be that hard, and the other is the Wild, who will likely be resting their top guys for the playoffs. We can score 10!

Ok Johnny needs 1 pt in Minny for PPG. 2 assists for 50 and 80.

This is true. At least not in the 4th round. If the article is to be believed, it was Kucherov being selected that made the Flames think they should take Johnny with their next pick.
