At this point I would not believe anything he said. He's a proven liar.

This reminds me a lot of a situation I ran into a few years back.

I was working as the head of primary in a k-12 international school here in China. The school hired a new teacher for the middle school just before our head of middle school and school principal went out for a week-long conference. I was in charge of the whole school while they were gone so I had numerous interactions with the new teacher. Something about him just didn't feel right to me, like he was being really nice while surreptitiously testing the system for cracks, so I spent an evening googling him and digging into his background. Then I found a 20+ page thread about the guy on an expat discussion board in Taiwan. Turned out that while in Taiwan he had scammed a bunch of people into giving him money as part of a fake online radio venture. Then, in order to get more money he had faked the kidnapping of his own daughter and collected money from loads of people to help him "pay for her ransom"!

Needless to say, we got rid of him immediately but it blew me away how many worms came out of the woodwork on what he had been up to in less than two weeks at our school. In that short time he had already borrowed money from a bunch of kind teachers "to set up his apartment for his wife and daughter coming", he'd had two teachers over at his apartment to "test their voices for internet radio", he had even talked to a couple of students about involving them and their families, he had tried selling fake Apple products (which I later found he was also doing online while posing as a retailer from the states) and he had even copped an inappropriate and unwanted feel on our special ed teacher. It went deeper too, with name/identity changes and while we got rid of him, I'm sure he's still plying that twisted trade off in some other place.

Anyways, the long and the short of it is good on MMF for calling him out. It's too bad that there are people around who take advantage of the good will and admirable desires of communities. Based on how everything looks now, I'm glad he's been weeded out of CP.

EDIT: To add, I don't know anything about PIMking beyond his posts on CP, so I'm not meaning to claim that he is some professional con artist, because I don't know. I'm just sharing my story because this event reminds me it.

This part doesn't make sense to me though because he acted like he had no idea what gofundme was. Are we to truly believe that his ex set him up on there and told him nothing about it?

As someone that knows pimking in real life, I am very surprised the turn this thread took. It's hard to look past the evidence and links provided and say he didn't do anything wrong. He seems to have milked people for what he could.

With that said, I don't think it was some evil long term con. While I don't agree with him on most issues (he's conservative and I'm liberal) I have always felt he was an honest guy. He's been to my house, attended my wedding, and sat next to me for a season of qc flames games.

I guess what I'm saying is try not to vilify the guy too much. We all do stupid things.

PIMking always came across as a bit of a simpleton, I doubt this started out as some long ongoing con. My guess is he used GoFundMe the first time, whenever that was, and thought he could keep going back to it, got addicted to the free money. Don't think he set out to con anyone but that's what happened, to more then people on CP it seems.

It's funny looking at the pics he posted and others have posted here today, an Xbox One controller next to Thanksgiving dinner, concert photos at a big venue, engagement ring, etc etc etc, big purchases made on our dime when he was claiming it was all going to get him back on his feet. If he had any smarts to him he would have packed up shop and stopped going to the CP well after that. Instead he kept dropping hints about still being hard up, in hopes of getting more money I'd imagine.

Maybe it all starts with embarrassment, the new companion in his life doesn't know he's hard up, he wants to keep the fun times going was to do this, across many platforms, but that doesn't excuse anything.

Really not interested to hear what he has to say either, no way can he make these stories not fishy. Pretty clear he saw my post this morning, sometime after I submitted it at 1am, and decided that was it. Changed his signature to a farewell message and last logged out at around 9am.

He then logged back in, fully capable of replying but logged out again. Only now, after he can't post does he claim he wants to reply.

BS, such BS.

People said essentially the same thing about Madoff (except for the Flames part).

He needs to return the money he milked from CP members.

There is obviously nothing he can say that will satisfy anyone, or that we'll believe for that matter. An apology is about all he should do really, but of course why would we believe that either?

Between this and the boxing day deals thread, it has been a fascinating day on CP.

I remember going through the donation list and seeing how much you contributed. The most of anyone on the list, I think. I was very impressed at your generosity. I'd be mad too, but like Jiri said, you all should still be proud just for stepping up and helping someone who (you thought at that time) needed help.

I didn't really follow the original fundraising efforts but I have been reading up on this thread with dismay.

A lot of people (and charities) are having a rough go of things in Calgary and across Alberta right now. Please don't let this . . . debacle . . . dissuade you from lending a hand elsewhere if you are able or so inclined. Political joking aside (thanks Obama/NDP/Santa?), there is genuine need in our community that will likely only increase in the near term.

It sounds like the CP community really stepped up originally and I have great hopes that it's just a small sample of the generosity and compassion out there.

Maybe this post isn't needed at all but wanted to at least mention it. Hope it isn't too presumptuous.

I just looked at it a few minutes ago and it was there, now gone. Looks like he's doing some damage control, or trying.

Dobbles, when did you get married? Maybe your gift was indirectly from CP .

But in all seriousness, maybe give Ian a shout and see what he is to say since you know him personally.
