Players get traded after waivers sometimes.
I'd rather they go after Khudobin on a 1 for 1 trade with Hiller. Retain salary, if need be.

I think one of the main reason Khudobin was on waivers was to clear up their 3 goaltender issue. Why would they want to be involved in a trade that would see another goaltender coming back?

Why would the Ducks want Hiller?
He was pushed out of Anaheim.
Khudohbin is better statistically than him this season, and provides insurance now in case Anderson or Gibson go down with injury.
Even if you retain maximum salary on Hiller, it doesn't save the Ducks a lot of cash. Granted the Ducks are a budget team.

What would be the point of Anaheim trading for Hiller?

Disappointed they didn't claim Khudobin. Not shocked though.
Hopefully BT has big plans.

Glad the Flames didn't add a $2.25M crap goalie

My logic behind it (mostly just wishful thinking) is that they had Hiller before and maybe feel they can get him back to form. If Treliving thinks Khudobin is a narrow upgrade on Hiller for he remainder if the season, he could retain 2 mil.
Anaheim would get Hiller for the same price as Khudobin (2.5)
Flames would get Khudobin for the same price as Hiller (4.5)
Anaheim is stuck with 3 goalies regardless.

Well, I guess there's something to be said for stability. Hope Hiller and/or Rämö find their game.

Agreed and let's not forget that Hiller looked white as a ghost in that game against the Sabres last week. He was likely still weak and feeling sluggish against the Rangers as well. Hopefully, both Ramo and Hiller have recovered fully from the flu.

Before Flu: Hiller sucks
After Flu: Hiller sucks
His performance in the last two games really didn't sway my opinion either way - it was his flu that kept it at "Hiller sucks" instead of levelling up to "Hiller really sucks".

More likely that Hiller will regain his average form than a random goalie with a worse track record will provide a new answer.
The goalies were fine last season. I don't see a reason why they wouldn't get back to that level. It looks hopeless only if you focus on the shortest time frame.

Stoll should enjoy all the snow Minnesota has to offer.

Well hopefully Hiller has a bit of redemption like Ramo did. Still hope there's another option soon

I understand that. The chemistry issue in this case is dropping in a guy that may not be a clear upgrade and removing a guy that has had success with the team. I don't have a huge issue with it either way, but it so clearly a stop-gap solution that I think it could easily backfire.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

I see your point, but I don't think we're really talking about chemistry in this case. The 3 headed monster was a chemistry issue and this is different.
As to your points, Hiller and Ramo are both stop gaps as well. I don't think it's possible to have worse goaltending than we've had this season. The "backfire" would be the status quo. It's all upside IMO.

Since the Wild had 20th priority on him, it certainly narrows down the list of other possible claims to 10 teams (and one of those 10 teams is the Rangers).

I was in the claim him camp at first, but have had time to think about it since. Khudobin isn't a young guy or been on fire. Sometimes it's the moves you don't make that are the best for the team. The guys are playing better now. Keep the room tight.

Glad he cleared. We don't need to add another goalie to the existing mess.
