So then your complaint should be that Harper has been soft on a Western pipeline, right? I wasn't debating the legality of the pipeline. Yeah, a federal government could push the pipeline through against BC's wishes, so long as that party is fine with being crushed there in the next election. And that's not even getting into the logistical nightmare that building a pipeline against the wishes of the general public would be (protests, sabotage, etc.).

admittedly, I'm a bit politically challenged! I haven't paid attention to in the past as much as I should have. But I'd really like to be on the ball with it during this election run.
Is there a decent website that acts as a good central point for following what each of the parties messaging is, and provides updates as the election run goes on? or is it just following each of the news outlets? CBC, CTV and such?

Careful. Certain "objective" observers are going to come along and accuse you of hyperbole, fearmongering and reaching the bottom of the barrel.

Hahaha, this is probably the dumbest tweet so far. I mean its a little early to call it for the campaign with 75 days to go, but this should be top 3-5 material. No party has said they want to tax Netflix...but don't let the facts get in the way of telling people you like watching TV!

The tweet is dumb, but the intention is actually pretty smart. The to do down south over Netflix taxes has surely caught the attention of some up here. So Harper not only opposes something that wasn't an issue (yet), but is now likely going to force Mulcair and Trudeau to come out with similar positions. Harper's trying to control the message and keep the other two on the defensive. It would probably also play well when the debates turn to taxation.
You hit on the real problem though. There's 75 days to go. These cute little distractions will lose their value long before we get to the home stretch.

Its not smart. Its just ridiculous. "Well they didn't specifically say they weren't going to implement a tax, so the door is wide-open" kind of logic is just asinine. There are plenty of legitimate issues to talk about.

He's got you talking about it instead of the legitimate issues. He's hoping to get the media talking about it, and he's hoping to get the other leaders talking about it.
Working as intended.

Harper's favourite show is Breaking Bad. That show wouldn't have been possible in a country with universal health care.

Think so? How many votes do you think it will move from the opposition to him?

I was led to believe the CPC had a large budget for advertising. Apparently I was mistaken

You aren't this dense, Slava. I have little doubt that you understand the value of controlling the message.

That video is hilarious, I'm almost wondering if Netflix is a campaign contributor or something. "Sure, do an ad for us on twitter and we'll kick you a few bucks."

I'm sure he would rather talk about his love for TV when the campaigning might be breaking bad next month. Seriously though, its interesting that parliamentary privilege might expire right in the heart of the campaign due to the length of this one in particular.

Fun theory but I doubt it happens, the writ period is technically covered.

Some more Netflix fun...
https://twitter.com/CPC_HQ/status/629096090344624129
The CPC and all their families must be getting Netflix for free for this. Netflix tax as an election issue? We're getting more American by the day.
