The game looks decent this year. Haven't bought one in years so this might be it, the only thing for me is being able to turn off the player indicators and puck shadow/trail/effects.
Everything that is extra over real televised hockey completely ruins it for me because it messes with my eyes and I can't focus, hopefully they can be turned off.

I'm finally going to shoot the puck (no pun intended) and buy a PS4, but I don't need/want it until the new hockey comes out. I figure I could probably save a few bucks and buy them together if that's a thing they do every year, but I have no idea.

Not officially, but I think Best Buy or EB usually has some sort of deal where if you buy a system you can get hockey for free. Somebody will have to confirm as I could be making all this up.

I have never seen it bundled with the console by Sony, as NHL probably isn't a large enough seller to justify it. I do seem to recall it being a part of bundle at Best Buy that included an extra controller and some extended warranty though. Probably not worth it.
I would assume that EA is fairly strict about the price of the game for the first month.

Last year the big box stores had a promotion where you could buy a PS4 or Xbox One and get your selection of a free game. It just happened to coincide with the release of both Destiny and NHL 15.

In NHL 16 we will have authentic goal songs for Anaheim, Arizona, Boston, Columbus, Calgary, Chicago, Detroit, LA, Minnesota, Montreal, New Jersey, New York Islanders, New York Rangers, Ottawa, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Toronto and Winnipeg.
I really feel as though EA should throw one or even two elite players fto those who purchased '15 and played HUT. The returning player rewards are decent but all those packs are useless people draw a elite franchise player in the bonus packs.
