If the Flames can kill this off, it should hopefully give them some momentum. They need to get skating and start creating some offence in the 2nd, or this game will be over quick. Blues were all over us in that period...as usual.

Well it hasn't translated to the NHL. As far as I'm concerned the 4th line is Stajan, Shore and the player that benefits from playing with them.

didnt feel that was an awful period. minus that junk goal, I though the Flames did a good job answering back and creating a few chances. They really need to stop getting hemmed in their own zone though. Our forwards are awful at getting in position after we fail to clear the zone

I agree with the 5 and a game but how was the head hunting on Monahan only worth 2? That's what pisses me off. Nothing is ever a 5 minute penalty against the flames. I was actually surprised to see the instigator too...haven't seen one of those against our opposition in a long time.

I see the usual boy whippers are out tonight. Colborne and Raymond haven't played any worse than the rest of the team (the first line hasn't been good at all). But let Colborne take an accidental penalty or Raymond peel off on a line change and watch out.

I think Bork got 3 for a similar hit on Seabrook as well, iirc.

As good as the first line has been offensively they get hemmed in their own end a lot. The way the team collapses in their own end isn't usually pretty but they do block a lot of shots.

Nice way of saying Hiller wasn't ready for that one and it never should have happened...

Flames just outclassed out there. Only Shore and Stajan looked decent out there and that's not enough. Hope Hartley mixes up these lines, Colborne and Raymond have as much chemistry as English class, The Bouma/Backlund/Jones just doesn't have that extra oomph we need from them, and the Hudler line will probably go 0-fer.

Hope that works.

Yeah it gets a little old with fans blaming the whipping boys regardless of other players having worse games.

No question he hasn't arrived yet. I was more talking about potential and the fact that he is a bit faster and has a better shot.

Stajan and Shore are sure a good combo though. I suppose Byron could be a useful addition.

Yeah they could use Byron right now. That said if the Flames can somehow manage to kill this penalty and have a better 2nd and 3rd period it appears it could be a night where a win would put them within two points of the Wild and Canucks.
