I don't know about the rest of you Flames fans but I'd prefer the Jets win this one than the Nucks. Biggest reason, I'd prefer the Nucks to lose so it keeps the Pacific Division battle closer and keeps the Nucks in range of the Flames in the Pacific.

So GoJetsGo in this one for me.

I think we can all agree that we all want the Kings to miss the playoffs.

Well in the big picture, the Flames have 2 ways of getting into the playoffs. Wildcard and top 3 in the division. If the Canucks and Kings keep winning, the Flames only shot is the Wildcard spot. If the Canucks lose, the Flames can overtake the Canucks and finish in the top 3 in the Division, and a better spot in the post-season.

As a fan of the Flames and Kings (I know I know), I really think that Winnipeg is the team that is not going to make it (not a jinx thread as Vancouver is the other option) as they have a notably tougher schedule than any of Calgary, LA, Vancouver and themselves.

I hate feeling this way, but I want the "no good" team to win tonight in regulation. Ideally I'd love to see Calgary smash Vancouver in the first round and LA do the same to Chicago.

Yes, but Flames have a head-to-head left with the Jets, so keeping them within reach of the Flames allows us to control our fate if the Kings keep winning. If Jets win, we probably only have one way to get in the playoffs, through the pacific. That means staying ahead of Kings, as we still need to get three more points than Canucks in last 9 games or somehow make up the ROWs in that time.

Nope. But I do think we all agree that it would be awesome to see Burrows block a Trouba cup-busting slapshot here in the third.

p.s. I totally get why you would want Jets to win and see why you think it would help the Flames. In an ideal world I would want both Jets and Flames in playoffs, but if the Flames are going to get in we have to try to get and stay ahead of the Jets.

Actually making the playoffs is more important than who we play in the playoffs.

At this point, it doesn't matter if it's wildcard or 2nd/3rd seed in the division. How it's shaping up, the one with the least amount of points between Jets/Kings/Canucks/Flames is going to be the odd man out. Since Jets have less points than the Canucks, it's to Calgary's benefit that Jets lose in regulation.

Just as long as it doesn't turn into a 3 point game.

Can't be stressed enough.

If it comes down to Flames vs Jets, game 82, I'd rather not have to depend on the least reliable thing ever, out of town. Winning game 82 and missing the playoffs would be the ****iest feeling.

With the way the Kings manhandled the Rangers today, I'm not taking my chances against putting my eggs in that basket, and the Canucks have too much of a lead / easy schedule to make up enough ground.

I don't know. I've heard that the Jets have a tough schedule down the stretch and Nucks have an apparently easy one, but I don't think that's going to make a huge difference with the Jets sadly.

That's why I would feel a little more comfortable if the Jets could've been winning this one.

But yeah it's a good point that that's a risky thing to do right now.

EDIT: Didn't know the Jets and Nucks were tied on points. Thought the Jets had one more point going into this game.

Wild are already at 91 points so no point in even discussing them as the Flames won't be able to catch them.

Well i'm dumb; I thought the game was over but turns out it was only the end of the 2nd. When they started the game I thought the jets magically scored somehow and it forced the game into OT.

still gotta worry now...

The last 2 games of the season against the Kings and the Jets will decide who is in or out. Everybody just keeps on winning and shows no signs of entering a losing streak..

This is getting ridiculous... best case scenario is that the 4 competing teams got 6/7 possible points tonight, and it could still be 7 - to be fair minimum was 2, but there are no breaks at all lately on the OOT.

Jets loss helps us more than Canucks loss. Not dramatically, but statistically it's quite clear. It's tough for us to accept because a) we hate cheering for the nucks and b) it means 'settling' our expectations to third in the Pacific.
