I think my wife bought me a Gaudreau Jersey yesterday for xmas so even though she dislikes hockey. I am giving her credit for breaking the streak.

I love Byron's feisty attitude. The Kings tried to offset our pushback by rough play, and it was nice to see guys like Byron and Bollig stand up to them.

I turned it off, watched a movie, WTF happened. Guess I have to watch Blue Rays every time they play now until we lose again.

Was easier to see on sportsnet but you can see Hartley start shaking his hands in anticipation right before the actual goal. Great stuff.

Hartley knows winners and Gio is a grade A winner.

I'm so conflicted. I used to love how Darryl Sutter used to show little to no excitement after huge emotional moments. But I love how Hartley gives no ####s about showing his excitement.

Gio with a 6 point lead in the defensive scoring race. 34 points in 36 games.

12th in overall league scoring.

79 points between Gio, Brodie, and Wideman (who all had points tonight).

December 22 postgame quotes: Darryl Sutter........

Quote:
On the “fluke” goal that deflected off Drew Doughty:
Not really. I think that the score was really not an indication of the play. About halfway through the game, I think they had a lot more desperation that our team. It wasn’t the puck off the skate that was a lucky break. At that point, that made it three-three. To make it three-two is not enough work on our part for the second goal.

On being “aware” of Calgary pulling its goalie:
We were talking about it with three or four minutes left when their team was down two. Pulling the goalie didn’t make any difference. Those are individual mistakes. Two individual mistakes.

On Johnny Gaudreau’s goal at the end of the second period:
The power play goal? Yeah. Stolly broke his stick, so you know what? Not much you can do about it there. [Reporter: He still blocked the shot.] Yeah. He broke his stick prior to coming into the zone, and then he dropped it in his zone.

And Hudler is 15th overall with 33 points.

Johnny not all that far behind with 27. 5 back of stinkin' Forsberg, but a couple multi pointers should make that up pretty quick.

Sorry if someone posted it..

the @LAKings twitter account is by far the best team run twitter account in the NHL. They posted a Scorch gif halfway through the game:

Certainly taking nothing away from the Flames, but the Kings were a mess on defense as soon as the goalie was pulled.

1)Letting Gaudreau all the way out and around on the wrap around, basically into the low slot, untouched the entire time. Great patience and not trying to just jam it it in.

2)Just before the tying goal, Raymond and Glencross has great chances (both fanned) due to Kings defensive soft plays.

3)Letting Gaudreau skate right through the middle of two forwards, and then behind a defenseman at the blue line (and a a great pass by Hudler) on the tying goal.

4)The 2-0 in the the OT, only two good saves by Quick prevented a 4 goal game by JG....if JG only could've gotten a bit further from Hudler.

5)Seconds later, Gio's rush. McBain gave Gio way to much room width wise, and then when Gio cut in, McBain didn't come down far enough to cut him off or even touch him. Carter couldn't hold the back check, likely expecting McBain to get a piece of Gio, Quick let it slide under his stick and Martinez played it soft too as Gio cut across. Gio wanted it much much more, and only a few defenseman would have the guts to do that in that situation.

Mcbain was covering Gaudreau who was setup for a shot right in the slot on the winner. A right hander moved his stick to the left making it impossible to defend Gio, no Gaudreau on the doorstep no Gio goal.

I love Hartley, he is soo passionate. So many coaches would be stone faced after a win like that and walk straight to the dressing room.

Also like to see how Hudler looked more excited for Johnny's Hat Trick than Gaudreau did!

So many amazing points, thanks for contributing to this thread.

L.A is a crap team anyways, not like they've done much lately. You're right, such a soft team.
