Yeah, he'll definetly get drafted... the only questions are when and by whom (My guess is Oilers, 4th round).

I think the Oilers try to save face by making sure they get him, which probably means they have to take him in the 2nd round or so.

I get the same impression. No good....

Maybe. Might not even be a completely unreasonable pick... Grimaldi went in round 2 so it's not unheard of for one of the really small guys to go that high and if he continues ripping up the CHL along with basically eliminating the flight fear by spending a year and a half in North America and actually attempting to sign an NHL deal I could see it happening.

I think Tkachev will very likely be a second-round pick in 2015.

If Edmonton is picking higher then the Flames in the draft which always seems to be likely. Just before they strut up on stage to draft McDavid you phone then and start asking them a bunch of questions about his kid and basically state that you think he's worth a first round pick.
Then end the conversation with a wistful. Shame that he's not going to end up in Edmonton because every GM that we've talked to is snaking this kid as quick as they can.
Then pay a media reporter to ask Lowe and Katz how it feels to lose this kid because of their inate ability to mess things up.
The Oilers will then take him with the number one pick because they're no good that way.

I'd like the Coilers to trade their second pick for some magic beans, then trade their third pick for yet another goalie when the 2 they have blow up.
Flames then dump some of our guys that aren't in the long term plans - Wideman, Glencross, Diaz, 'Gooch...
Then we watch the Oilers sweat through the second round as nobody takes the 5'1 russian... then mostly through the third round as they wait for their what is sure to be very high 4th round pick...
Then the Flames draft this kid with the second last pick of the third round, a pick we got from trading 'Gooch or Diaz at the trade deadline... players we got for absolutely nothing by inviting actual players to camp on PTOs that could sign contracts (or take a flyer on in FA in 'Gooch's case).
That'd make me laugh....

But yeah, if you are an 18-year-old rookie who goes hot dogging after scoring your second NHL goal to tie a meaningless October game, you are going to get called out for it.

He had scored another goal a minute earlier that was waved off. He tied the game against the defending cup champions if I recall. And it was his second or third NHL game. The crowd went nuts, he's 18 and he got swept up in the moment.
There's all sorts of reasons to dislike yak and Edmonton. But we can do better than 'hey kid get off my lawn'

If Vlad shows any promise this season I do not think he will make it to the 4th round. This is especially true if his immediate *comparable Gaudreau impresses as a rookie.
*Rightly or wrongly, Johnny is whom Vlad is being compared to.

I have never seen anything like it. Dozens of kids start their careers in the NHL every season. Many of them score their first and second goals, and even a few of those are of the game tying or winning variety. There is only one player EVER that I have seen do a full on knee slide through centre ice in Game #3. One.

The NHL is in the entertainment business, the fans were entertained.
Like it or not, if he was a flame and did the same thing the MAJORITY of fans would of loved it.

I legitimately would have been embarrassed, because it was embarrassing. When Monahan scored his first goal and in no way acted like a rampaging dbag I didn't think "I wish he would have knee slid".
Everyone laughed at it, not just Flames fans.

It would be much easier to bribe a THN staffer to put Tkachev on the cover just before the draft. $100, done.

Honestly, if this were true, then I think we would see more of it. But that's kind of my point. Not that what Yakupov did was rare, "unconventional," or non-traditional. NO ONE does it. And I mean no one. There is a damn good reason why no other NHL rookie has ever done the tying-goal-in-Game-#3-knee-slide-through-centre-ice. There is a damn good reason that Cuthbert and Johnson were awkwardly speechless when the goal occurred. It's stupid.

Thats because it was early in the season and there may have still been hope. If he had done that during a game in November when the Oilers were mopping the basement and trying to take care of the roach problem the fans would have cringed.
That was the rest of us though. The ones that knew the Oilers were getting ready for the cellar.
It was just embarrassing...

It's stupid because it shows up the opposition. No one should be giving the opposition more ammunition to lay a beating on you. Fleury even got criticized when he did it and it was a playoff game winning OT goal.
