The Brazil team has yet to dominate a team, but they have played well and won the games they have needed to.

The World Cup is coming home to Brazil.

BRAZILIAN VOODOO PRIEST REPORTEDLY PUTS CURSE ON GERMANY

Yep, black magic enthusiast, Helio Sillman, says that he has placed a curse on Joachim Low’s Germany. “I’ll take their top player and bind his legs so he can’t run on the pitch,” said Sillman.

Yikes!

Semi-Final Heartbreak for the hosts is nothing new in the World Cup.

Italia 90: Italy loses in Penalties to Argentina

Germany 06: Germany loses on a late extra time goal in one of the Greatest matches in WC history.

Brazil 2014: Brazil faces a 7-1 embarrassment after losing their best 2 players.

If trends continue Brazil will get their redemption in the future.

The only "world power" team that was able to avoid it was France and even they needed PKs against Italy and the only two goals of Thuram's international career to get to the finals.

this was way worse than heartbreak though, Germany wasn't supposed to do anything in their own WC. They were rebuilding.

I don't see a way Brazil gets out of this TBQH. They have taken pragmatism and physicality to the point of no return. If you've ever seen the Brazilian league, it's rubbish. Just constant fouling and cheating. Of course they all dive, everything is a foul in that league.

They're not producing the stereotypical skillful player as they did in the past.

It was apparently also the most goals conceded ever by a team in a knockout match.

There was a 7-5 knockout game once upon a time. 1954?

The only teams that have given up 7 or more goals since 1982.

El Salvador
Saudi Arabia

I haven't really read up on that, it's an interesting topic. It does seem that especially the stream of high-skill strikers from Brazil has dried up. (Relatively speaking.)

You're right, 1954 Austria-Switzerland.

Goes to show FIFA website isn't that reliable when it comes to fact checking.

The same games also had West Germany beating Austria in the semifinal 6-1, which I would guess is the previous record for a semifinal.

Never seen anything like it.

Brazil will be back and better then ever, this German team had to win this game that group is as its peak and if they didn't win this world cup it was a wrap for them.

Just like in a hockey game when a team looks ready to come out and really give it to the other team, they suddenly give up a goal and it turns into a nightmare thats what happened.

Its too bad some of the Brazil players didn't take a run at the classless germans or punt that dog of a coach they have.
