Definitely one of those stories that makes you a little more paranoid about your own kids. I'm feeling a little more helicoptery this week for sure.

Can we insert a GPS-tracking chip under their skin yet? Cause my wife would be all over that.

In this case that kids best chance of rescue or escape is to talk to a stranger that recognizes him. He got kidnapped with his grandparents. No amount of helicopter parenting prevents this. So let your kid play in the street and fight the urge to let tragic rare incidents affect your parenting.

Whatever crazy inspired this post I will disregard. Generally speaking, when you have kidnappings for "custody" it is done by someone who cannot get the access or involvement they want legally. E.g. spouse with no custody allowed for whatever reason, or only a couple days a month. Or they want to have the child and inflict pain on the spouse. It also happens with estranged grandparents as well.

Problem with that theory is you've got grandparents who have full and fine access to their grandkid. They're in the golden spot. All the fun and attachment of having a kid without all the responsibility. Would make no sense to kidnap him.

I generally agree with this, but you have to admit nothing can be ruled out at this point. For all we know the grandparents may have fallen in with a crazy church or cult, and they took the boy somewhere to "save him" from his current lifestyle.

Now I am not saying that this is the case at all, just wildly throwing it out. I just keep thinking in my mind the best chance of finding everyone is to find out the grandparents for some reason took him. However, I know it looks not to be the case with the limited info we have right now.

I just hope it is something like I mention above, or that someone took them for ransom, and is now realizing they're up the creek. Much better to tell myself this then think of any alternatives. Anyways, hopefully they find all three without a scratch somewhere soon. I can't imagine what the parents must be going through, I think about this story all the time being a father myself.

I think the grandparental abduction scenario went out the window when the cops confirmed there was a violent incident in the home.

Whether or not that guy was cooperating, they got what they need from him, for now anyway:

@660News: The man taken in for questioning in relation to the missing persons investigation has been released, but remains a person of interest.

The only reason I can think of for them not to say if they've found bodies is if they thought it would compromise apprehension of potential suspects? Dunno. As far as I know, the only thing they've told us about the green truck is that it drove by the house a few times, or was in the area of the house, on the night of the incident. Obviously there's more to it than that given the scale of the search at the location they found the truck, but I imagine they would not release the guy in a case of this magnitude unless they were 100% sure he was not involved or associated with those involved.

This case is bizarre.

Jen Lee says these CPS are in a separate field northeast of the main field.

The other issue here could be that they didn't have sufficient evidence to charge the person of interest and there is a limit to how long you can hold someone in custody as well. If they don't have the evidence to press charges, they have to let them go because you can't just hold someone that you think might be guilty without something certain. At this point, if we are to go off the officer's words from last night, the person taken into custody had a truck that was similar to one they were looking for (without a license plate number) on a property that a tip was called in. That's not concrete evidence at this point of the person being guilty.

I'm sure if the person of interest is someone they feel strongly about, they won't be leaving the CPS sight. They'll be "free" but not free. They will release them while collecting more evidence and then arrest or take them back into custody if/when they have the information they need to press charges.
