What about the part where it says "All footage captured from actual gameplay" and the Xbox One and PS4 logos not even five seconds into the video?
I never believe that, they plaster the in-game and engine rendered labels around but more often than not the games look nowhere as good as the trailer. I'll believe it when I see the actual game in motion. Call me jaded but I just never believe hype trailers at all

The trailers from NHL 14 looked exactly like NHL 14 did.
If there is one thing EA doesn't seem to do, it's lie about gameplay footage. If they say it is, it is.
Without getting into the squabble, I do agree about NHL 14. The NHL series actually usually has very accurate gameplay trailers. The difference is you have to zoom into an unplayable distance to see that detail. I'm very interested to see how it looks in traditional top down style. At that distance the intricate details aren't noticeable as much, so I wonder if the graphic bump will be as noticeable way up there.
Strombad: I tend to agree with most everything you say, but the trigger is a little sensitive at times. I get that you clearly like to get into it, but he's asking you to leave him alone.

Does anybody play with those camera angles? They're ridiculous! Haha. The game does cut to those angles during gameplay though (in replays and the sort) so we can definitely expect that sort of detail to be apparent in every game.
The ice and the crowds are going to make the difference in the top down view, the little details won't be as apparent, but I think it'll definitely be visually apparent thorough out the experience.
As far as AcGold though, he said he was jaded, so I didn't think doubling up would offend him. Thanks for the advice, I can usually stand to chill now and then, but I didn't even remember who that guy was haha. I had to go back pages just to figure out what he was talking about. It's all good here! Haha.

i agree that the trailers tell you very little. Showing cinematic views of the gameplay are pretty useless other than displaying graphics one might be able to expect when watching a replay at a zoomed in view.
It is the gameplay videos at the standard camera angles that show you the true nature of changes introduced in the game.
I agree with the sentiment stated in the e3 thread.... game trailers are such a waste of time in my opinion, it's like a movie trailer montage, but without showing scenes from the actual movie, just showing cinematic explosions (for an action film in the example).

Ya, it's all replays and cinematics between gameplay. I really enjoy them and feel they add a ton to the experience. The only time I've ever veered away from the standard top down was using a slightly zoomed in view and it was maddening (you couldn't see your wingers). If any more than 1% use those angles I'd be absolutely floored.

I've tried the side angle (aka the Winter Classic angle) which actually gives a pretty cool and realistic game look, but it was near impossible to play, especially in close.
Curious: I noticed it is offering it on 360/One/PS3/PS4. Wonder if the graphics upgrade will only apply to the next generation models. I really do question if the old generation can actually handle the new graphic demands.
I guess worst case scenario is I get NHL14 with better announcers.

Ah right, I forgot who I was talking to here. Nevermind, and don't use up all the Alcan foil plz.

Worse than that - TWO years ago. E3 2012!
That said, it would be impossible for Ubisoft to claim that Watch_Dogs' E3 2012 demo was shot using next-gen console footage since the dev kits weren't available yet. That was clearly PC footage and then somehow they dumbed it down all platforms drastically from what was shown. Absolute debacle.
Like other posters have said, EA might be a lot of things, but if there's one thing they aren't, it's dishonest about genuine gameplay footage, especially when it comes to their sports titles.
argh... big fan of the series, buy the game every year. this is a thread dedicated to the game, why does everyone have to like it for it to be a good discussion.
Wow, those graphics look amazing. If the actual gameplay can somehow look as good as the trailer did then it'l definitely show the power of the next gen consoles. Just having Doc will be such an improvement. And with it being on Xbon and PS4, there should be no excuse to have the long load times....

It doesn't all have to be roses, but really, someone saw that trailer and responded with either "meh" or "probably isn't real anyway"?
