I am lucky in the sense that I had to quit my job because I am moving in two weeks, so I decided to adjust myself to Sochi time, but whiskey and coke sounds like a good idea too. Though if I'm on Sochi time, would I then be drinking mid-day? Ahhh.
Ladies' 500m heats about to begin. I think all three Canadian women will move on to the quarterfinals.
For the Men's 1500m Semis, all three Canadians are in different heats. Gilday's heat is the toughest, but Francois Hamelin's has a 7th skater.

Haha, awesome, I just turned the channel to NBC and they were talking about the Beanpot Tournament and Gaudreau had a short interview. They only showed one question, but there has to be some more somewhere, haha.

Olympics really screw with my sleep schedule. Have to be up in 4 hours. Its always "just one more event" mentality for me.

Love the commitment! I thought this year being in GMT+1 would make things easier with only a 3 hour difference. But it's a lot harder to skip out of work than it is to reduce a sleep schedule! At least the marquee events will be on during mainland Europe's primetime.

St-Gelais wins her Heat, onto the quarters.
Two more Canadiens to go.

It's the primary heats happening right now (round of 32 if you will). Top 2 advance to the quarters, not the semis yet.

Its amazing how much small an angle their body and skate blade makes with the ice when they make those turns. Such a cool sport IMO.

All 3 Canadians, all 3 South Koreans, all 3 Chinese move on. Pretty standard stuff. Way less exciting getting updates from CP/CBC Go Canada!

Yeah, solid. I almost thought for a second Suk Hee Shim wasn't going to advance, super talented. She's going to have a lot of medals in her career. Only one major surprise in the heats which was Martina Valcepina not advancing who is 6th in the world (behind Shim).
Canada is up 3-0 on China right now after 3 ends in Women's Curling. Slalom part of the Super Combined in 5 minutes.
EDIT: For the 500m quarter-finals in a couple days, all three Canadian women will be in different heats. St. Gelais' looks easy, Hewitt will have to get past Elise Christie, Maltais has a very slim chance versus both Fontana and Shim.

Too bad for Francois Hamelin, doesn't make it through the semis.
Also there are three semi-finals, which seems counter intuitive.

Awesome Charlies Hamelin makes it to the 1500 metre final. He looked very comfortable and in control.

Was worried for Hamelin for a second. Sad Francois didn't make it through but it was a tough heat. Whelbourne of GBR getting to the final is pretty amazing for him, I was surprised he even made it through the heats. Will he have a Bradbury moment? It's going to be between Victor Ahn, J.R. Celski, Hamelin, and Han-Bin Lee (who was advanced for who knows what reason).
Women's 3000m relay starting shortly. Canada and Korea should advance over Hungary and Russia, and Italy and China in the 2nd heat.
