If he's confident in his ability, and as unselfish as we think, he might be happy on 1yr deals. Outside of maybe Jagr, is there an active player that's earned more than Iginla in his career?

Still can't believe that there are people still blaming him for the trade situation.

According to CapGeek:
Jagr
Lecavalier
Brodeur
Brad Richards
Selanne

Are the active players who have more career earnings.

You point remains, though. I will be very interested to see what he decides in the off season, especially if the B's win the cup this year.

He DID handcuff the Flames by giving Feaster a list of 4 teams he'd waive to go to and then declining to go to Boston and deciding to go to Pitts only.

But, considering who he is and what he did for this city and the Flames, I suppose he did deserve to go wherever he wanted to. Still, the way he left, left a sour taste in my mouth.

Still happy he's doing well though.

He didn't handcuff anybody. He did the Flames a favor by agreeing to a trade when he just as easily could have Sundined them. He had(rightly earned) a no trade clause. I'm sure the easiest thing for him and his family would have been to stay put until the off season and then pick any team he wanted. Saying he handcuffed the team is preposterous.

If I'm not mistaken, he had a modified NTC where he could submit a list or something. It wasnt a full out NMC so he had submitted a list of teams and then changed his mind last minute. That is the same as the team changing their terms of the clause last minute and telling him he's been traded to the islanders.

It's easy to point fingers and say he should have done this or they should have done that but at the end of the day, the Flames made a trade and Iggy is gone. There are enough threads that've gone into great discussion about it all but this one is about how he's doing now.

The bruins seem like a team that works as hard as any Flames team ever has but they have more tallent than most Flames teams I can remember. Iggy isn't "The Guy" on the team and that's one of the reasons he's doing so well there.

Is he going to hit 30???? Lol he's going to hit it like it's a vancouver canuck defensman and then he's going to keep going!

IIRC it was a full NMC and Feaster asked him to waive. Iginla supposedly gave him a list of teams and Feaster started negotiating. He chose Bostons offer and told Iginla, who then wanted to go to Pittsburgh instead. I don't see that as a betrayal or something like that, just a breakdown in communication. Feaster should have got it in writing that Iginla would waive for each of the 4 teams before negotiating ... and informing Chiarelli that Boston won the sweepstakes before it was 100 % done wasn't exactly the brightest move either.

Some people will blame Iginla on this and probably many more will blame Feaster. Me personally, I'm just excited to see Hanowski, Agostino and Klimchuk make progress.

Iginla has probably done the best on endorsement deals of that group.

Iggy had a full NMC. But agreeing to be traded was a benefit to both parties. Not just the Flames

OK, lets get this thread on topic. The trade has been discussed at length on this board in other threads.

Iggy is good.

I love how at the outset of this thread most posters (including myself) are hedging their bets: maybe; not likely, but; would love to see it; if he has one more season in the tank; etc. Now it's go for forty; play five more seasons; why wasn't he in Sochi?

That's what Iginla can do. He's a dynamic player. Love it.

I can't remember what I said at the beginning of the thread but I probably would have expected 20-25 goals given the Bruins aren't as high a scoring team as some of the other Eastern conference teams. Getting to 30 again on that team is a solid achievement given he's got the majority of his goals 5 on 5.

As we all seem to be rehashing this again - I actually am getting to like the Pittsburgh package better.

It seems from reading their forum now and then that Bartkowski is their Butler - prone to making mistake after mistake and not having much hockey sense (though the Flames' Butler has really seemed to become much more stable and composed this year). Koklachev is a sub 6' center - where would he fit in? Granlund has been just as effective this year in the AHL, and most seem to think he will not make it as a center moving forward.

That Boston offer just wasn't that much better. Hanowski I think will be a useful player, as will Agostino.

Now back on topic - Hope Iginla gets to 30 tonight, and I hope one of them is a game-winner.

I'm sure many others were just notified, but Iggy was just named third star of the week on NHL.com.

Did we seriously trade Iginla for a bag of pucks? How didn't we get anything for one of the best players in the league?? The Feast really burned this team, we will feel the burn for years to come as Iggy keeps scoring 30

bag of pucks? Let's at least wait until Klimchuk turns pro and until Agostino and Hanowski get more time to prove themselves ...

Should we have gotten more for Iggy? Sure. But people really underestimate the worth of Feaster getting 2 additional firsts in a deep draft. IIRC only 5 firsts were traded in that draft ... both Calgary and Columbus acquired two and Buffalo acquired one. Teams were hesitant trading their firsts in that draft and adding Poirier and Klimchuk gave us a head start in the rebuild.

Bottom line is that personally it pisses me off when people call unproven talent "bag of pucks". Give them time to develop.

Oh and yeah, I hope Iggy gets to 30 tonight

Kind of surprising Cammy didn't get one of those stars. 9 points in his last 4 games.

Oh well, go Iggy!

What? C'mon dude, get over it! A year ago, Feaster says, "Iggy's never the problem". Then, Feaster and management decides, through a shortened NHL season, that maybe it's time to do a team rebuild and ask Iggy which teams he wants to go with. Which dumb arse would want to go to teams like the Oilers, Panthers, Buffalo, or NYI? Of course he wants to go with the hot team and with the best 2 centers and have his shot at winning the Cup. And which elite team is going to hand over 2 or 3 first rounders for what most fans and stupid media personnel called a washed up player?

Any player in this league would've chosen Pens as their team last year to win the Cup. Feaster was dumb enough to trade him in the first place. Like I keep saying, if you can't get a phenomenal trade value back from trading a franchise player, just try to keep him in the organization. No sense in getting unknown average value for something that the Flames already have sure value of. Seeing him in Boston right now is bitter sweet. I'm just hoping Boston wins the cup this year.
