Team doesn't seem keen on Jones based on them demoting him despite him being one of two healthy legit centers on the team last year, Reinhart should be in Abbotsford next season, Horak was moved to wing in Abbotsford last year and for most of his NHL time.

Could easily go with Stajan, Backlund, Burmistrov, Knight as 4 centers. Have Horak on the team to fill in for emergency situations. Reinhart in Abby to fill in for long term injuries.

With a rebuilding type team Backland, Burmistrov and Stajan would all be okay options for top 6 roles and could be decent enough to fill the "tough" minute roles each if need be.

Edit: realized Cammalieri was off team in the trade.

Moons right, Horak played RW most of the year last year.

Stajan is UFA at the end of the season and I'm not certain he will be in the re-build plans going forward. Had a great year last year and I like him but I don't see him coming back after next season.

If I were to slot four centers next year for year one of the rebuild:

1.Backlund
2.Burmistrov
3.Knight
4.Reinhart

Or like Moon said, Keep reinhart for depth and Stajan, Backlund and Burmistrov battle out for the top three lines.

Let them go learn their way. Backlund and Burmi have been around long enough and know the ropes. Jones can stay in Abby and be the depth guy.

Wow, does that post hammer home the fact how bad we will be next year. Not saying I disagree with your lineup, but the '75 Capitals might have a run for their money.

Gotta start somewhere. And I am totally cool. with a group of centers that will all be under the age of 25. Which is what the Flames are gearing up for anyways if I am not mistaken. At least those three or four guys have decent enough upside. If we're going to be terrible, lets have to good pieces that can grow into something.

Hey, I agree. I hope they all develop into solid NHL players. I was just saying that next season could be a long one. (I live in Edmonton, which could make it longer)

Is Evander Kane looking to move? A little while back he raged on twitter about not winning and the not care attitude of his team. He is a real passionate and dedicated player who I think could mature into a leader. The BC native would be closer to home. IMO I think he's a good player to put a target on.

Cammy for Kane? 6 more years with $5,250,000.

Not sure if Kane would want to be in Calgary. We won't be winning too many games and the last thing we need is his attitude issues affecting the kids.

Did you mean Cammalleri and the 3 first round picks and a really good young prospect?

Yes your right! Do you allow your kids to drive drunk, excessive speeding, fight random people, pick-up any women he likes even if she is somebody's girlfriend or wife and thinks he shouldn't pay his bills. But wait after all he is a star?

This being said it is all part of the maturing process of young talent. Evander has grown over the last year. He looks good so far and could grow into a great player. But he has to stop his selfish plays and off ice antics.

My point being it's stupid to say that one kid, pretty much the exact same age as the others, is going to have a negative affect on them with his attitude. Because what, he's been in the league a few extra years and has the gall to be 21 years old and say what's on his mind? You're comparing that to criminal activity? Seriously?

Don't take it so personally, I think a good portion of it is because of how he acts.

Regier didn’t rule out making a trade for amnesty buyout candidates. “You can acquire a player and buy him out if somebxody wants to pay you enough to do that, some other currency other than the dollars,” Regier said. “Whether it happens or not, it’s one of the options.”

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Interesting idea. As Vogl noted, the Sabres could pick up a draft pick or prospect doing that. Other teams might also consider that possibility this summer."

If he raged about not winning, Calgary is not the place he'll want to go over the immediate future.

Spector is just figuring this out? Maybe he is as dumb as people here accuse him of being.

Sabres' owner is definitely an owner willing to pay his way to a Cup if he could.

You're kidding right? If the Flames manage to acquire Kane, the last thing the Flames need to worry about is his attitude affecting the kids in a bad way. In fact, you hope his hate to lose attitude does rub off on the kids. You're talking about a 30+ goal scorer with size and a power game who will only be 22 years old. He will instantly be amongst the team's scoring leaders if not the scoring leader. If he plays his heart out and puts up 30+ goals playing with whatever scrubs he's paired with then he can talk about how much he hates losing all he wants.

Forgive me, I'm jumping into this thread pretty late. What is all this Burmistrov talk and people slotting him in like he's a Flame? What am I missing?
