Lifetime Suspension

I bet it was one of those free skype accounts that can only accept calls. So they had to call Krueger to Skype them back. Then the first 4 and a half minutes was MacT and Klown chatting about how amazing the intertronz is, and how this totally new Skype doodad that just came out like last week, will be totally rad for showing their penors to the Oilstain cheerleaders.
And the last 30 seconds was telling Krueger he was fired.

Are they buying Horcoff out because I can't see teams lining up to take him unless they send the Oilers a 6th round draft pick and the Oilers absorb half of his salary.
Hemsky will probably get the Oilers a 3rd round pick.

An Oilers writer (can't remember his name) was on 960 this morning and it sounds like they are going to buy out Horcoff and in his words would take a 3rd line winger and maybe eat a bit of salary to unload Hemsky.

Was listening to the Fan as well. I think it's their colour guy, don't know his name. Stauffer? Anyways, the part I liked was when he talked about how MacT and Katz are good friends dating back to the 80's. I really hope Katz, MacT, and KLowe stay BFFs, and he never changes the management.

Yeah, I can imagine that call
Krueger gets the Skype message.
You have a call from LikeaVipa.
hmmm what can go wrong with this call
Lowes' first question "Do you know how many rings I got as a player, do you know how many GM's know winning like I do?"
Krueger - "But I thought that Mac-T was the GM"
Lowe - "Shaddup, he's busy under my desk at the moment"
From under the desk - "mmmuu ggraa ddduuss
Krueger- "I didn't hear that"
Lowe - "He's says yer fired"
Hangs up the shype
Lowe - "Like a Vipa"

If I had a good third line winger, I have my doubts that I would trade him for Hemsky anymore.
the best time to trade him would have been last off season.

I can see an offensively talent starved team like the Predators trading for him if the Oilers eat some of his salary.

They'd have to eat a lot of salary. There's no guarantee that you're going to get value out of Hemsky with his injury history and his wild inconsistancy.
The Pred's aren't just going to take a flyer on him.

Did Craig McTavish or KLowe really fired Ralph Kruger via Skype? Wow, if that's true that's a first. Also, if that's true the Comedy Train still continues on Oiler land. That is so unprofessional.

They gave Krueger 3.
That is sweet for Ralph. He gets paid 3 years wages for coaching 48 games.
He should have been paid for 246 games (assuming no playoffs )
So hes getting 100% of his pay for working only 20% of it. The Oilers sure are a smrt organization. Yes, that was on purpose.

Again how is firing someone via technology that gives you audio AND video worse than firing them over something that only gives you audio? If anything, Skype is much more personal and accountable. And no, flying isn't the answer. Wasting thousands of dollars and half a week to just talk to someone in person for 5 minutes is a huge waste of time and resources.
I can tell some of you work in a corporate environment where you probably have to call together a board-meeting just to change the toner....but not everything in the working world has to be so complicated. Something doesn't have to be hard or expensive for it to be professional. The whole point of technology is to make things more efficient. Internet Conferencing is to the Phone, what Email was to the Letter. Or are you guys still corresponding with clients via carrier pigeon?

Isn't that par for that organization. Their scouting staff only drafts one NHL caliber player a year (1/6, close to 17%), they only show up and out shoot their opponents, with their high octane young turk offense around 10 of 48 games (again around 20%). Katz only wants to pony up around 20% for the new rink. I am sure if we looked harder we could find more circumstances where they only give 20%.
For the record I pulled the out shooting stat out of my arse, but I bet it is around there.

Sounds like Paul Maurice may end up in Edmonton too:
Josh Rimer @JoshRimerHockey 2m Ive been told that we could see Paul Maurice as an associate coach in Edmonton this year with Eakins.

While that may be true, the whole reason they had to go to these lengths was the fact that he was in Europe, likely on planned-well-in-advance Oilers business.
One day the GM realizes that he may be able to get another coach "with potential" to say yes, and then the GM realizes he has to fire the current guy asap before he can hire that next guy, and before the SCF starts. So the GM has to scramble to deliver the news.
The lack of a long term vision and planning in leading the former coach down the "your safe" path, then call him out of the blue and fire him, via skype because this organizational decision, and decision on thie guys employment was something that was determined only after this guy took off on a plane half way around the world to do work for the team, just reeks of short term thinking.

You can never have too many former coaches from the Toronto Maple Leafs organization. I expect KLown was so impressed with Quinn that they felt it logical to load up with more than one this go around.

Or Lowe figures that if you add both of their pro hockey wins they add to 616 putting the Eakins/Maurice hybrid coach in 10th position all time in wins, one win back of Lemaire. If you squint hard enough it looks legit.

Everything you said is completely fair. But it's the way it went down is the problem, not really the technology used, but the way it was used.
Mac T, if Krueger's account is accurate seems to have been far to casual about it making the use of the technology seem like an issue. Make the time to ask Krueger to a business meeting to discuss urgent matters, tell him you want to use Skype, let him get set up somewhere and be prepared.
By the sounds of it, it seems like Mac T almost pinged him out of the blue, asked him to add him on Skype for the first time and fired him with his wife in the room. Seems very bush league.
