They were whistling at the ref/penalty. I believe they were clapping when Staal got up and was helped off.
That was a seriously dirty hit. This boring-ass tournament has had no emotion and I didn't really care, 10 minutes ago, about what happens in this game. Now I want them to kill Sweden, and run a few of them through the boards along the way.

I don't think it was intentional
I haven't seen Edler throw a hit like that in his 6 or so years here, just not that type of player
but it was reckless and by that definition dirty
he deserved to be tossed and if that was in an NHL game I would have no problems with a suspension

I don't understand what Edler was doing there. He kind of does the opposite of throwing out his leg by moving the rest of his body out of the way of the hit. It looks like he's lined up for a straight-forward body check, then moves away at the last moment and turns it into a knee-on-knee hit.

Looked pretty dirty to me, he could and should have either gone for the full hit or gotten the hell out of the way. This is purely on Edler.
