I'm really struggling to see where Kiprusoff would have made a huge difference in some of those games.

I think that even for the absolute best case scenario, we might be 2-3 points better than we are now.

That and L.A. giving Stanley Cup dreams to every future #8 seed.

Anyone who takes out CHI this year certainly would be considered a legit threat.

I agree that they have not been losing games because of the back up goalies. With a healthy Kipper not hard to see the flames with an extra 2-4 points. That would put them very close if not into the playoffs as of now. This ownership group does not need much to think it has a chance. As far as i am concerned, this team has many holes and Kipper just masks the holes.

They should be more concerned about keeping Kipper for a retirement contract than any other player on the flames. Especially if they want to continue there road of mediocrity.

The Kings winning the cup last year being the 8th seed was the worst thing to happen to the Flames. People forget about the tallent level that team had/has and figured that any team can win the cup now. The myth that if we get into 8th "anything can happen" is the reason we'll spend assets to try for the playoffs and it's going to hamper this teams future for a while.

Theoretically, it can. Realistically, the chances are near zero for the Flames.

What is a playoff team? As far as I am concerned, there are only two of those in the west and that is Chicago and Anaheim.

In the east it is Boston and Pittsburgh.

Every one else is fighting for scraps, and as LA proved last year, if you get in you have a chance.

The Flames are not far from everyone else - including Vancouver imho.

But I agree if we are not in a playoff spot come trade deadline, we should sell some assets while trying to gather young talent that can play in next few years. But a wholesale blow up is not required.

Blackhawks will go 32-6-10 this season. They will play either Flames or St. Louis in first round of 2013 playoffs.

Phoenix wins tonight vaulting them into 4th, but the Ducks also get a point. A wash if the Flames win their next one vs. the Coyotes in regulation. OT would only make a win worth 1 point now as well.

LA beats NSH tonight, punting them down to 11th.

Flames really need to beat the Sharks on wednesday.

Well after the last game against the Hawks, I'll take that matchup

So, I would argue we are in a good position to string a bunch of wins together. Iggy seems to have gotten it into gear, Kipper is back off the IR and we have added the Terminator, I mean McGratton to the lineup.

It is necessary that the Flames actually execute, but they are in the best position they could be in short of actually having landed ROR.

In my opinion if they start to put some wins together - they have a chance, and if they don't then it might be time to shed some dead weight, and retool for next year or the year after that.

If the Flames start to put some wins together and there are no 3 point games for the rest of the year, OR if the Flames are allowed to play extra games they'll have a chance

You should apply for an assistant GM position with the flames, you would fit the mind set perfect of the current administration.

The same fans say this each and every year. We are only a few points out. We only missed the playoffs by a few points. We were almost an 8th place team! Games in hand only help when you win them.

The correct answer is 18.076894%
