If we were to target an Islander I'd rather go after Strome then Nino, Not sure what they'd want though.

Unfortunately, Neiderreiter has zero leverage to force a trade and I doubt that the Islanders will accede to his demand (to discourage similar demands other young players in the future.)

I think they'll trade him. I think "strong arming" isn't really in the islanders best interest. They have to make a statement that they only want players that want to be there and than they have to make it a place people want to come. Forcing a player to stay there isn't going to help their image. Show the other guys that they will get treated fairly and things will work out. They haven't treated Nino fairly, and he's asking to get out. Do so and make your team better

This is an 'outside the box' trade idea. Some team BUYS him.
No secret Wang is kind of cheap, right? Who is NYI stuck with? After Gomez and Redden, what is the worst contract? If a team is 'rich' enough, they can bring in DiPietro.
From a Flames' standpoint, something like:
NYI:
Stajan
CGY:
DiPietro
Nino
Sit him all year, to make sure he doesn't ever hurt himself, and then use an amnesty buy out on him in the off-season. You end up 'buying' Niederreiter essentially. Have no idea if it would be fair (or feasible) for any side, but would be interesting. Toronto definitely has the cash to do it, and as long as they send an equal cap hit (or close) back that is expiring, I am sure the Islanders would be willing to accept a heck of a lot less in trade just to be free of their 'mistake contract'.

Sounds a lot like the same statements made last summer, when the isles were offering their 1st rounder at the draft and Flames fans were pushing JayBo to LI suggestions.

Like Nabokov who they forced to join the team last season?
Or, like Visnovsky who they are forcing to join the team this season?
Maybe at next yr's draft, they can poll the potential first rounders and ask who wants to be drafted by the isles?

Ya, we would have to give up way too much to make this happen. He looks like a pretty good little player. I just hope that we can get another guy in the draft this coming year that will be what we are looking for. I'm excited to see what Jankowski and Sven can do in a 3 to 4 years. We all know Sven will be great, but who will be great with him. Exciting times!

My point exactly, they have done a lot of dammage to their image, they should start to try and fix it by doing what is right for the player

Sorry, Nino may have requested a trade but he is not going anywhere. They brought him up too early last year and he is doing much better in Bridgeport this year. They will allow him to develop and keep him on the Island.
Edit: I am not crazy about the Visnovsky situation but he will probably join the team within a week or 2. In the meantime I will have to see what happens vs Toronto tongiht.

Interesting idea, but how many teams are willing to spend $26.25 million (the 2.25 Dipietro is owed this year plus the $24 million buyout, granted spread over the next 16 years) for an unproven player. I guess you can reduce that figure somewhat depending on the player going back
Seems like a big gamble, a GM would have to convince the owners that Nino is a legit player to spend that much cash on him.

You miss my point.
Bob McKenzie was interviewed and judging by his statements, the isles are getting praise for how they are handling Nino this season.
Snow is not trading Nino because fans think he's mean to Nino.

I agree. fans all over message boards are racing around with Nino proposals. Someone forgot to tell Snow he is trading Nino

Definitely not something most teams in the NHL could do, but yes, depending on how much money a team is able to send back to New York, there might be at least some basis to make it work. Probably not feasible, but interesting.

I have no idea if NYI will really trade Nino or not, but I wouldn't gauge it based on what Snow says. Would he actually tell anyone at this point outside the organization if he will? Phoenix wasn't going to cave into Turris' demands either.. and then bam!
Who knows if it will happen or not? Snow probably hasn't really figured it out yet himself, but I bet you for SURE he will be listening to trade offers, and keep insisting he won't trade him until he actually decides (if) to pull the trigger on an offer.
