It is often like watching a new convert to Christianity, lol.

Hence the 400 million plus people who are vegetarian in poorer nations. Somehow they can afford it, but we can't?
Fruit is cheaper when it's grown close to you and year around.

Fruit is a lot cheaper in the poorer tropics then in say, Calgary.

Agreed but fruit is just as important in a omnivorous diet as it is in a vegetarian diet. So it will cost the same either way. The only cost difference in the diets is the protein source which I contend can be done just as cheap if not cheaper in most western countries being a vegetarian.

I thought this was a discussion forum where all points of view were welcomed. I stand corrected.
You said that people who eat meat are behaving like apes and are equivalent to a sadist who gets his jollies by hurting animals, not as a means to an ends, but as an ends in and of itself. That is, to put it kindly, being preachy.

If you had simply said that you don't get enough joy from the taste of meat or health benefits from the protein in meat to make up for the guilt that you feel from knowing that another creature suffered, I don't think anyone would take issue with that.

Fried mushrooms, with steak cooked rare. That's all I want. Oh, and some veggies, of course. Gotta get those five to 10 a day! Maybe with a baked potato.

How to give up meat, if you're a meat lover:

As an aside, I got an oyster shucking knife for Christmas. Once you get the hand of it, it's pretty easy to shuck your own oysters at home. Cheaper than going to a restaurant for oysters.
In the context of this thread though, is it worse to be boiled alive, or have your shell pried open and having the knife sever the muscle used to open and close the shell?
