Not to mention the interception the Pats should have had a couple plays before the miracle pass to Tyree (08), and the catch Welker should have had last year. Baaaah... Last year sucked, but I think the 07-08 loss is still the one that will always hurt the most.

Huh. I am surprised that Seattle is less of an underdog than Green Bay, but then again I guess the 49ers are more formidable opponents than the Falcons.

I hate that Tyree play because everyone acts like Eli did something amazing there. The play should've been blown dead, there were multiple holds by the offensive line that went uncalled, and the throw itself was a huck and prayer. That play was all Tyree.

The turf was replaced in December and there have been 2 games on it.

But there is perfect weather forecast between now and gametime and the field is expected to be in good shape.

Green Bay and Seattle are both effectively road favorites this weekend. Not sure I disagree at all. San Francisco's offense has been middling with Kaepernick and with Justin Smith likely not to be 100%, I like the Pack in that one. Seattle is on fire, and while losing Clemons hurts, Atlanta's run game sucks anyways, and with Irvin set to play significant action, I think he'll have a big game getting to use that speed in the dome.

Note that Seattle will also be without Hauschka apparently which is surprising to me because it looked last week like a strained muscle or something.

I would be more concerned with that if this was an outdoor game this week, but indoors Longwell, who spent his last few seasons in Minnesota, should be pretty reliable. Now if they have to go to Green Bay for the NFCCG then I'd be concerned. This week it shouldn't matter though.

Another factoid to chew on....

The Denver Broncos are set to host the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday in a divisional-round playoff game that will take place in subfreezing weather in wintery Colorado. Forecasts call for 20 degree temperatures with a 20 percent chance of snow at kickoff.

Manning is 0-3 in postseason games where the temperature at kickoff is below 40 degrees. In those games with the Indianapolis Colts -- including a 41-0 loss to the New York Jets in January 2003, and a pair of losses to the New England Patriots in January of 2004 and 2005 -- Manning has thrown just one touchdown to seven interceptions.

That's about -7 C. Not too bad, unless it is windy too.

I agree with Troutman. Unless it's windy or snowing, that temperature on its own should have 0 impact on the game.

Yeah, I never minded playing when it was slightly below freezing. Way better than when it's 25 above or more.

So you're saying it was a standard football play?

Yeah, but I'm guessing you weren't a QB and you had gloves on. That's the biggest issue in that weather, how it impacts the ability of the QB's to grip the ball.

maybe it will maybe it wont...but its clear Manning has been off his game anytime the temp has been -3c or colder.

Today is the 31st anniversary of "red right tight - sprint right option" aka "The Catch".

I think the big difference for Peyton is unlike previous years where he was clearly the biggest reason Indy got wherever they did, Denver is a very balanced team. I'd actually argue their defense is better than the offense. So Peyton could even have an off game Saturday and they could still win comfortably, something that could never happen when he was in Indy.

Jim Harbaugh is rolling the dice and sticking with Akers as the kicker on Saturday. Cundiff will remain on the roster but probably won't dress.

Fortunately the Broncos aren't a one trick pony.

The biggest challenge in the game is how the Ravens are going to protect Joe Flacco.

I don't think for one minute that weather is going to hurt the Broncos against that team.

Bad weather gives the Ravens a better chance than fair weather, but they are still big under-dogs. They need 3-4 turnovers to win.
