Jankowski has scored 2 goals after 2 periods so far for Providence in his first game.
Although it is against a terrible team it is still great none-the-less.

Flames just tweeted Jankowski got first star.
Calgary Flames @NHLFlames
#Flames prospect @Janko61 scored 2 goals & was named the game's 1st star in his Providence College Friars debut!

Great game by Mark, scores his first NCAA goal 3:15 into his first game, probably second or third shift. He was listed as first line LW, and went 1 for 2 on faceoffs. I'm hopeing he gets shifted to center sometime this year.

I haven't seen him at all, but it seems like he'd be a stud on the wing in that league. I agree about him playing centre though, it'd be nice for him to get some defensive work in as well.

Probably the best competition and biggest defenders he's ever played against. I wouldnt mind seeing him in the OHL next year.

Nah, let him play 2 years in College and see what's up then. Maybe he needs a 3rd year maybe he's ready for the AHL. A month ago we were thinking he was going to a prep school. Nice to see he skipped that.

I would still like to see him play against better opposition. I don't think his size or speed are an issue.

NCAA is probably as good if not better competition than the OHL.
The big difference is, he is playing on the top line in Providence. He would not be on the top line on any OHL team at the moment.

They do but it doesn't really matter as the first statement is false anyways.

Depends how you look at it. The NCAA is filled with players that are 18-23 where the OHL has players 16-19 with a few overagers so for Jankowski playing against bigger older guys is beneficial. I agree CHL is far more of a grind for a young player but in Jankowski's position it is all about getting bigger right now. I think the NCAA is a fine development league and glad janko skipped the USHL

IIRC, many years ago, the earlier version of the Oil Kings used to play exhibition games against the U of A Golden Bears. Despite the presence of potential future NHLers on the Jr A Oil Kings, they usually lost to the university team - better team play, older (smarter?) players. I don't think Canadian college hockey was (is?) as good as NCAA, so it would be interesting to see how today's Jr A teams would fare against NCAA teams.
