Suspensions for pitchers are ######ed right now. He is suspended for 5 games, meaning he can't sit in the bullpen/bench with his teamates for 5 games in which he wouldn't pitch anyway. This won't even mess up the rotation and he won't miss a start.

That game was a comedy of errors. 1-1 in the 6th, and then the Giants defence played the worst game I can remember. LA could bunt safely at will.

Posey is bad at first. They miss Sandoval at third and Sanchez at second. Crawford looked good defensively at SS, but made a few costly errors last week, and is sitting-out now.

Bochy needs to think defense-first Tuesday night

Losses on and off field

The Giants absorbed two more blows in their season of setbacks, losing reliever Guillermo Mota to a 100-game suspension and then falling 9-1 to the Dodgers

UPDATE: Mota blames children's cough medicine

Holy ####! Josh Hamilton has gone 4 for 5 tonight with four them resulting in a HR. He becomes first player to hit 4 homers in one game since Carlos Delgado on Sept. 25, 2003.

You mean 5 for 5 with 4 homers and a double just for good measure for the record of 18 total bases in one game! He homered in the 9th inning Monday night, so had 5 home runs in 7 at bats which is another record I heard on the radio this morning.

David Robertson has been less then stellar for the Ynakees so far as their new closer. More ammo for people who horribly overrate the position

Seems like a lot of pitchers get inside their own heads when it comes to recording the final outs of a ball game. It isn't any tougher to get hitters out, but guys lose their control, let things distract them. Hence why I think a guy's makeup is more important than his stuff in that role. If the guy who threw the final outs in the eighth inning did so easily, and can keep going...bring him back out till he gives you a reason to change pitchers.

Now the Royals look like they're going to blow a 9th inning lead too.

First 8 pitches from Colby Lewis today resulted in home runs. Back to back to back jacks to kick off the game for the Orioles.

Going to Cardinals/Giants on Thursday for the day game matchup. Baring injury, weather, suspension, whatever else could happen, it should be Cain vs Wainwright. Really looking forward to it, plus it'll be my wifes first ballpark experience.

That was such a weird game.

Colby Lewis with 12 K's in 7 inning pitches and only scattered 5 hits. Unfortunately, the Orioles scattered them all over the fence.

Besides the OriLOLes ability to hit the long ball in game 3 of that series, they got dominated by the Rangers, which many teams will this season. They follow that series up with one against the Rays starting tonight. Be very interesting to see where this team is a month or two down the line. I'd almost prefer them to stay in the race, at the chance of their GM making more panic moves and taking on bad contracts.

When's the last time a major league pitchers started back-to-back games?

Last night CJ Wilson started for the Angles against Rangers Yu Darvish, before getting 1 out and rocked for 5 hits (albeit over a 2 hour rain delayed first)

This afternoon the Angles starting pitcher is CJ Wilson against Rangers Matt Harrison.

I can't think of one example where this has happened since I started watching baseball in 1990.

Aaron Myette did it on September 3 & 4 for Texas back in 2002. He also did it in the minors for Winston-Salem in 1998.
Before that you have to go back to Steve McCatty {A's} in 1980.

If you catch a foul ball, or in any way get a ball...give it to a kid.

One guy in the fantasy league I play in has Josh Hamilton, and Carlos Beltran on his team. Those two combined for 16 home runs and 31 RBI as well as 18 runs and 76 total bases. The good news for his opponent was that he traded Joey Votto last week. But this other guy lost 11-0-1 to me last week when any other team in the league would have done no worse than 5-6-1 against me. This week he loses 11-0-1 again when he would have been no worse than 6-6 against anyone else. Sometimes you suck...sometimes your luck sucks.
