Will Ortio start tonight? Hard to rest a keeper after b2b shutouts, but hard to play him on b2b nights.

I bet Irving plays. Ortio in for the next one. Irving is pretty used to getting played 2-3 straight games on consecutive nights.

So far it's a 1-0 game for the Dogs. It's weird that Nigel Dawes and Dustin Boyd play on a line together in Hamilton. I guess they just aren't big enough for the bigs.

Stone scored, but the game ended 2-1 Hamilton
Abbotsford needs 5+ points in their last 3 games and a little help to make the post season.

Just some notes from last night's game, which held the year end awards:
- Player with most community involvement award went to M. Keith
- Top Defensive Player: TJ Brodie
- Top Rookie: Brodie and Nemisz
- Most Improved Player: Breen
- Unsung Hero Award: Q. Laing
- Most Exciting Player Award: Brodie
- Fan Favourite Award: Ryan Stone
- Team MVP: Irving
- Brodie's injury looks really bad. Much worse than a "sore foot", which was previously mentioned. He has his foot booted and is walking on crutches.
- Bennett made his debut last night. He played well for the limited amount of ice time he got. He wasn't outstanding in any one area, but played his position well.

It was anticipated that Chilliwack Bruins sniper Ryan Howse, one of the Flames' top prospects, would join the Heat for the stretch drive after his WHL team was eliminated from the playoffs last week.
Howse's presence in Abbotsford has not materialized, due to a shoulder injury. The 19-year-old left winger battled through the injury in the WHL playoffs, but mustered just one goal and a -2 rating as the Bruins were dismissed by the Spokane Chiefs in five games.

Quote:
Duane Sutter, the Flames' director of player personnel, said Howse could conceivably join the Heat at some point if the team manages to qualify for the Calder Cup playoffs, and if his shoulder heals sufficiently.

As it is right now, however, I'm not sure there's any room for him on the team after Nemisz, Bouma, and Backland are back. Plus, the Heat still have the likes of Dowling and Ruegseeger who have been impact players since they've been signed not to mention Bennett joining the team as well.

Not that I really put any weight into HF prospect rankings, I believe they left out Erixon out their Top 50 prospects.
Or did I just totally miss it?

Dont kid yourself, Rundblad has really taken his game to the next level this year. However Erixon not being in the top 50 is fairly predictably characteristic HF. Who cares though.

Yep, he has a high ankle sprain according to Feaster this morning.

David Rundblad has taken his OFFENSIVE game to the next level. The guys is a sieve at even strength and not that great of a skater.

Except Rundblad is a trainwreck defensively, Erixon has a more rounded two-way game and broke the junior scoring record by a defencemen in the SEL surpassing Victor Hedman. ( Which tells you his offensive game is better than most give him credit for )
Erixon's game looks to translate better to the smaller North American rinks aswell.
Rundblad' from all accounts, really thrives on the open space created by the extra ice in sweden due to his creativity and will likely struggle to find his game atleast early on in his NHL career.
I have also heard that Erixon has worked really hard on his shot the past few years and now has a better shot than both Rundblad and Adam Larsson.
I agree that Rundblad has a higher offensive potential due to his creativity and vision but IMO from the reports I have read and from talking to some fell'as who have watched both play on a consistent basis is less likely to reach it in the NHL.

I'll take it that you have never seen Rundblad play. He is a very good skater with excellent offensive instincts and so-so defensively. Think of a Erik Karlsson lite.

rundblad broke a record as the highest scoring defensemen ever in SEL with 55p or so. Zettberg never reached something like that as a forward.
The guy is impressive.

I have, I came away unimpressed. So-so defensively isn't even close.
