That makes no sense to me. Why would any team make it all the way to the Cup finals and then decide that they needed to trade a 1st for a goalie?

He had an .800s playoffs last season and was .800s today I wouldn't call it just yet

Winnipeg is the one other Canadian team I can cheer for. Seems like a great fan base and a really good group of guys playing for them.

How can you not cheer for the Jets with Monahan and Toffoli on the team. Going to be tough if you have to score 7 to win. The Avs are a well oiled machine kinda like Vegas.

I would like to see Winnipeg win, for Monahan. Colorado definitely don't feel like the underdogs in the series though.

I never thought of Georgiev being that bad but yesterday, holy hell.

Especially since it would likely be the young guy Annunen who ultimately takes the net and does it.

Would that have been the first time an EBUG had played in a playoff game if Georgiev had been pulled?

I was pretty impressed with the Jets. Kept answering back against a very fast and skilled Avs team. Didn't see that in them, but to be fair, I rarely watched Jets games this season. Really don't mind seeing them do well, unless the internet Jets fans get too arrogant, which I've seen a bit of already after Game 1... As others have mentioned, it's crazy that the Avs didn't try to address their goaltending. I get that Georgiev was an All Star, but acquiring a capable veteran backup seems like it would've been cheap and smart, but I suppose that might also affect his confidence. Hellebuyck was also leaky as hell though, so maybe bad goaltending vs bad goaltending will be the story of the series.

The Jets did not impress me, and they can't expect to hold off such an explosive and experienced Avalanche team if they continue to bleed scoring chances against. The Avs' dominated that game at even strength.
Georgiev is the sole reason the Jets won that game, and I don't see how Annunen doesn't get the game two start.

If Annunen continues to be out with whatever is keeping him out, it'll be Georgiev!

I just went back and looked at the scores for Jets games since end of February (roughly the time when new players were acquired) and it seems that the narrative of the Jets not scoring much is not well supported.
They had 24 games in March and April.
The number of games where they scored 4 or more goals: 12, so half the games they scored plenty of goals, and as you would expect, they won those games. The problem is that they lost a lot when they scored 3 or fewer goals, with a record of 3-8-1.
Basically, they seem to play a winning style of hockey when they go out and score goals. I say abandon defense for the rest of the series and see if they can outgun the Avs with their shoddy goaltending.

Didn't see it mentioned here yesterday but wanted to bring it back up since it dominated the early discussion in this thread.
But Landeskog was not being quietly kept out by the Avalanche only to be ready for game 1 even though he had been skating since January.
Will be interesting to see if he can make it back in these playoffs at all though.

Yeah, totally forgot about that! There was no way Avs were holding him out for 2 years just to sneak him back in for Game 1. It was an interesting prediction from the start.
