that was a great game to be at. Didn't really see any weaknesses. Jose walked 3x, hah.
Really nice warm evening and $1 hot dogs too.

It's too bad he's not a very good left handed hitter. He's a far better right handed hitter but is losing those at bats to Collabello who has been a productive hitter. Smoak is actually a 1.146 OPS batting right handed with 4 homers in 26 plate appearances hitting right handed. The glove is good, but that would be one area where the tem could use an upgrade is a regular left handed hitting first baseman.

Matinee game today at noon. Blue Jays going for the sweep. Estrada on the mound. Should be a gooder.

Not sure I understand, is it a holiday in the States, or do they just sometimes play baseball games during core work hours and hope they attract a different crowd?

Texas likely is on the road somewhere tomorrow. So home teams will usually start the last game of a home stand in the afternoon so that they can get out of town earlier and to their next destination. That's why there can be a lot of Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday afternoon games. As they call them get away days.

Traditionally Baseball is a game that was played during the day.
For example the Cubs didn't play a night game until 1988.
With travel between series it helps with travel as well, but really they mix up day and night games as it is part of the baseball pasttime.

If a baseball season ticket base is anything like a Canadian NHL season ticket base, wouldn't an afternoon game eliminate the majority of their season ticket base from that game?

Damn, two out runs are always the toughest to swallow. Hopefully he can limit the damage to one.

So........there's next to nobody in the stands today. I guess I understand it now that it's been explained to me but that just blows me away that having games while everyone's at work is actually a thing.
And not just a thing, but seemingly a regular thing. I love learning all of MLB's weird intricacies. "Hey, we have a trade deadline, but not really!" "5% of our fanbase is available to attend a game at 2pm, book it!!!!".

Hahaha, wow that would be a horrible turnout for a minor league team. That last crowd pan was like panning a stadium an hour before first pitch during warmups.
