Davidson smiled when they showed it was down to two. I thought Chicago had it. Chicago is better for Celebrini because he gets to play with Bedard... I think I would have preferred Chicago get it instead of having a chance to get Hagens or McKenna.

Macklin isn't a high end 1st overall, even if he's a top line player.
The silver lining is the Flames can win the next two lol. One of their two lottery wins wasn't burned today

even the expansion Atlanta Flames had to watch their Expansion brothers the Isles pick first in 72 and 73 (got that Potvin character) while they did draft 2nd those 2 years

This is fine. We will have a really good crop of players to pick from at 9th.
This is a much better spot than we had at the TDL looking at around 12-14th

Hard not to be jealous... SJ gets a decade of contention then rips it to the ground quickly and adds three top 10 picks in four years including a first overall and already have a decent young foundation in place.
Flames muck along, never really contend/have maybe one or two decent years capped with a playoff fail and then do a painfully slow "retool" and have really nothing to build around yet. Hopefully they can really stick the 9 pick, was hoping maybe the lotto would bail us out a bit
