Why should she? She's part of the "Sane Six" after all...

Not that it’s the same thing. It just feels like there’s some kind of parallel there.

Every deputy mayor I’ve known has welcomed these opportunities to stand in for the mayor.

So much normal professional behaviour from the politicians that heavily influence our lives, meanwhile if any of us common folk did this stuff in our jobs we'd be canned.

I think when politicans are elected, they should have to give up their social media accounts. Especially Twitter. Have an official City of Calgary Mayor account that is managed by staff only and not the elected individual. Same at the Provincial and Federal level.

Disagree. I’ve done municipal consulting including a session on using social media for elected officials. SM can be dangerous but done well it’s a tremendously effective means of communication.

I'm not sure what to make of this, but I've seen Sonya Sharp quoted in a couple of articles mentioning "assessments going up" as a concern from a taxpayers' point of view. I'm wondering if she knows how the market value assessment + mill rate system actually works? The city can't simply increase the amount they pull in by increasing the assessments. She knows that, right?

Godnek has shown in articles that she doesn’t understand municipal taxes so I wouldn’t be surprised if Sharp doesn’t either. I bet most people don’t understand it.
I got in an argument with several people here that mill rate was a ridiculous rate to evaluate the level of taxation between cities after a Herald article was doing that.
