Thanks guys for playing. Was a really tough deck I think. I will disclose everything tomorrow. There were two randomized lists from people that helped me and they didn't produce much. Although Matt would have gotten a straight next hand!

I just go straight down the list of numbers and sometimes if there is a hand with no flop, it changes the pattern.

That was fun Matt. It just solidifies why I don't regularly play poker.

Yeah, I only like playing poker for low stakes. This game was a lot of fun though. Especially late in the first round when we had a lot of info.

seems straights and trips are really hard to get, might add in a rule if there is a next time that if your opponent folds a pair you get 5 chips

I think it was perfect. Although I rarely worried that I would have a straight or trips.

There were never connected flops from the randomizer

Before round 2 I posted inquiring that a 1 is the low card, seconds later I got the PM and didn't Matt actually turn a 1. I totally tipped my hand before I even knew what I had.

Another big boo-boo by me. I had my PM's open in a 2nd tab and would just refresh the page. In round 7 Matt had a 9, then when round 8 started I accidentally didn't refresh my page and thought Matt had another 9 in round 8. Matt actually only had a 5 - turns out that I had a 6. Really annoyed me to make such a mistake and may have been what cost me the match.

Thanks to Girly for all of this and also to the Axis-of-Evil for playing quite the super smart game. Time to sit back and watch.

Cheers, HD

there are some options to make this even more complex.
a) if a player folds a pair, must pay 5 additional chips (pair on the board doesn't count)
b) add 4 suits to make flush > straight
c) burn a card before every flop

At a certain point though, adding complexity just adds randomness to the game.

Since you don't know your hand, paying 5 chips out folding a pair would just be insult to injury (as your opponent knows you have a pair). Don't like that one

The flush would be too random in my opinion and just mess with the payouts (have no idea what the actually odds are).

I wouldn't mind the burn - makes it more like real poker where you can't tell what might be "left" in the deck.

Today's food is Chilean, Empanadas!

-----

HELLO!!!

We will begin Round 9 of CP The Genius.

HalifaxDrunk was eliminated in Round 8 and now there are 7 players remaining.

Gaudreau Count
GP Matt has 39
Hockeyguy15 has 34
GGG has 32
bizaro86 has 31
Rathji has 27
squiggs96 has 25
mrkajz44 has 13

Total 201

The 9th Main Match is

OPEN / PASS

You will all receive a set of 15 cards with a mixture of number and symbol cards (numbers from 0 to 6, 2 minus signs, 2 division signs, 2 addition signs and 2 multiplication signs)

0 1 2 3 4 5 6 - - ÷ ÷ + + x x

OPEN / PASS is a game where you use your cards to obtain the highest value. To raise the value, you will require high numbers and advantageous symbols. To make a higher value, you are allowed to purchase extra cards.

There are 1 star, 2 star and 3 star packs.

★ is the same as your original deck and costs 3 Gaudreaus
★ ★ is better than your original deck and costs 5 Gaudreaus
★ ★ ★ is the best deck and costs 7 Gaudreaus

There is no limit on how many decks you can buy and they will not run out!

Two rules:
1) If you wish to buy a deck, you must post it in this thread
2) You are allowed to trade with or give cards to each other, this is done by PM'ing me the details. Other players will not know.

You have from now until 10am on Tuesday to buy decks or trade/give cards. By the deadline create the best composition of 15 cards from the cards you have and PM them to me. I will also forward your decks and the shuffle(s) to Mazrim to ensure fairness.

The 15 cards will be used to complete an expression on the table. The table is made to fit 8 cards in slots

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ = ______

The dealer (ME!) will shuffle the 15 cards and lay them face down on the table For example:

B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B

If you are not happy with the shuffle, you may ask for another shuffle, you can do this up to 3 times.

from the front of the list above, a card will be placed faced down on the slot in front of the = sign.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ B = _____

The player will be allowed to make one of two choices

OPEN or PASS

If the player chooses to OPEN the card will be included in the equation and the next card placed faced down in the next slot to the left, if the player chooses to PASS, the card will be discarded and the next card placed face down in the same slot. With only 8 slots available, a player can pass up to 7 times.

The Equation

Once all 8 cards have been placed, we evaluate the equation the following
way:

1) There is no order of operations, equation is evaluated from left to right
Example: 2 - 5 x 7 = -21, not -33

2) If numbers or symbols are placed side-by-side, only the left most one is included. The other cards are discarded.
Example 2 3 x + 4 5 0 6 becomes 2 x 4 = 8

3) If the card immediately in front of the = sign is a symbol, it is discarded

4) If the 8th card (left-most) is a symbol, a 0 will be placed to the left of it.
Example: x 1 - 2 + 3 + 5 becomes 0 x 1 - 2 + 3 + 5 = 6

Winning Conditions
The player who gets the highest value will be the winner, receive 13 Gaudreaus, 2 Gios and can give 1 Gio to another player
The player who gets the 2nd highest value will receive 8 Gaudreaus
The player who gets the 3rd highest value will receive 5 Gaudreaus
The player who gets the lowest value will be the elimination candidate.

If there are any questions ask in this thread
