Reminds me of when Wellingtons was closing... Until their reservation book filled up with nostalgia seeking last-chancers and, magically, they stayed open.

Their prime rib now ranges from $41-$79 and you don't get the salad bar anymore.

The friends cut! Wasn’t that something like 24oz? Bowl of gravy soup from the soup/salad bar and a friends cut, back when I had a metabolism, was a good night. Can’t imagine the outcome of that meal now.

They had a legit landlord dispute where they were not getting a renewal as the landlord had plans for the property.
After some plans fell through, the dispute continued to the use of the parking lot during business hours. They finally came to some sort of NO Lunch/NO parking lot during the day deal.
Still a great place for a steak and their lounge specials offer really good, casual level fare that's substantially better than most bar food for the same or less price. I go all the time and watch hockey and have dinner.

Interesting, I hadn't heard anything about a genuine dispute with the landlord. That'll teach me to blindly rely on the speculation of the peanut gallery (which may, or may not, have been this thread).
Otherwise, nothing against Wellingtons... Been many times; always great.

That 50 year old menu is older than at least 10% of the membership here. Maybe even 15%.

I did find it interesting that one of the co-writers of that episode was in "show biz" for 18 years, went to Brown, and is now a practicing psychiatrist. If you can believe what you read on the internet.
Anyway, I didn't mean any offense by pointing out the age of the menu. Apologies if I came across the wrong way.

Nah, was a good burn. If we can’t pick on the elderly, it’s time to abandon them on ice floes in the arctic (I think that’s a slightly fresher reference).

Other than the prices, the menu itself was pretty much the same right up until the early 2000s.

Think it was around $75/person. She did ask how hungry we were so maybe the price will vary.
